Time-gating content (Legion) is prima facie evidence that you’re not putting out a lot of content.
I’m not really arguing about time-gating. That’s a separate issue, if you ask me. I don’t really think that Blizzard is really grounding people just to make it longer to do things, even if I think there’s a lot of incentive for that kind of thing.
I agree that we should have flying WAY sooner than we do. And out of the 40 people I run into regularly in the game I only know one person that does not care.
The rest all would rather be flying.
Still no fly? Then i dont buy.
Using the same stab someone else used, thats definitely a you problem.
Except you paid to use it in that content, zone or tier level… At no point where you promised it would be forever and forever.
Honestly the number of people crying that they will quit/have quit because you aren’t being catered to by having flying out the door are so tiny I actually want you to all quit just so blizzard has an actual statistic on how few people actually give a *rap about it
You really have no idea. Its really is a HUGE issue for players(ex), and the ones still playing. When flying does come out you will never see a lvl 120 on the ground, unless they are to lazy to do pathfinder, or just do not care to do it for flight. It is usually very, very few players that you will see still on the ground.
It really is a big issue, one i wish they would release much sooner. Because we will be grounded when the new zone releases, flight should be released that day for the rest of the BfA zones. Theres ZERO excuse not to.
when I cameback to wow at the end of Legion I found out I couldn’t fly in Dalaran or Legion region…damn I got so mad, I know a lot of people who returned to the game quit because of that.
I think I am ok with that now, but I surely miss flying, and I don’t have to time to grind whatever we have to do in order to unlock flying so I guess I will never fly the new areas
Because Blizzard actually thinks it keeps people subbed longer to gate flying behind long reputation grinds and repetitious boring tasks. They are falling more in line with EA and other companies more and more every day. Sad times we live in.
I’d like for you to recall the lovely moment back in WoD where they tried to remove flying and it backfired due to the massive amount of players quitting the game. It was such a large number that they couldn’t risk it and changed their minds 2 weeks later. Now we have pathfinder. If you think the group of people who like flying is small, you are grossly underestimating.
They definitely said flying will be available at 8.2. This is 8.1 and 8.1.5 coming in January. So maybe March/April for flying is my guess.
This is not “flapping your mount’s wings,” if I set the camera to an angle that I personally find uncomfortable, I can stay in the air indefinitely while flying in EQ2, and (of course), if I am not moving, I stay where I am. It is only if I am 1) moving and 2) have my camera at an angle that doesn’t feel awkward to me that I have to press the space bar. I actually have to fly at a higher altitude when I fly in EQ2 than I do in wow, because the mounts gradually fly lower and lower. Flying in EQ2 is not really all that different from how it works in wow.
Have you ever done that quest in Mt Hyjal where you go through a portal and they give you a mount that flies, but you have to constantly flap the wings? I hate that quest, but that is what your comment about “flapping the mount’s wings” made me think of. I did not find that quest at all engaging. If anything, I found it annoying, and if flying in EQ2 were anything like that, it would no longer be a contender with wow for my gaming time.
Pathfinder, equal parts: Pride, hubris, and spite.
That quest was Blizzards homage to the 80’s arcade game “Joust”. Disliked Joust and disliked the quest equally. They can both diaf.
By the time 8.2 is out people will be playing vanilla, so WoW will be dead anyways. People will come back to 8.2 for a bit to do new content, quickly get bored with it and then move on. I don’t know where 9.0 will take place, but it will probably have more microtransactions because WoW will be dying and Blizzard will be needing money.
That quest was haaard. If there wasn’t a little pet to get, I wouldn’t have worked so hard at that. Got it done but I remember a lot of cussing was involved.
Well, since the way they are handling flight is a major part of why I have started taking extended breaks from wow, after having been pretty much subscribed non-stop since I first started playing in 2005 (and is the entire reason for why I will never buy another wow expansion), this strategy is not really working very well (at least as far as I am concerned).
I guess the stockholders think they want my money, but they really don’t.
I actually “cheated” to get that quest done to the point where I got both pets. I grouped with a friend and sat at the landing area while he did the actual “jousting” (he didn’t mind it as much as I did and was way better at controlling the “mount”).
I don’t see a problem at all. I’m not the one whining.
That’s the problem. For me flying is the signature WoW feature I loved more than any other. It’s just a really rewarding and fun way to play the game. But now it’s delayed so long each new expansion feels less rewarding. Grounded content is available in other games, I don’t need to play WoW for that type of “immersion”.
I see no reason to re-install WoW, and my sub time will run out before 8.2 and flying is available. I’m not coming back just to do some arbitrary grind to unlock flying which might take a week or more. What would I have to look forward to? Less play time than it took to get to 8.2 before a grounded zone is added followed by the next expansion where you can’t fly all over again.
The fun is gone for me.
