Flying was poorly done

or just ride your ground mount if you hate it so much. Problem solved and everyone is happy.

The only time I ever get triggered about Korthia flying is when I miss a rare tag by half a second, but then again everyone else would be there in the same amount of time so you’d miss it regardless. Otherwise (and I was a hugeee advocate of flying coming back) Korthia feels fine without it because it’s small.

  1. Flying got announced as a MAJOR expansion feature in The Burning crusade. Available at level cap for gold. There was content requiring flight to access.

  2. Flying was available in Wrath of the Lich king at level 77 (cold weather flying). Available for gold. There was content requiring flight to access

  3. Flying was available in Cataclysm AT LAUNCH for gold. There was content that required flight to access

  4. Flying was availing in Mists of Pandaria, at level cap for gold

  5. WoD launches. Now flight is a “problem”

I believe that is incorrect. We could fly in Nazjatar and Mechagon. (BFA) We could fly in Broken Shore. (Legion) Lastly Tanaan Jungle. (WoD)

It’s like this nice added incentive. All the zones where you need to obtain the requirements for flying. You were able to fly in after. I haven’t played Koritha yet but it’s sad to hear they stopped this trend.

I’m in the boat where it would be nice at start of an expansion to have areas we can fly in again. I wonder the players actually went to play TBC enjoyed it too. I can see waiting a couple levels close to max level. Still it could really add another element to the zones and it would probably help with them with the zones feeling so compact and small. (Which I think they kinda prefer…) I don’t think they ever intend to listen to the cries for that. Even tho they could most definitely utilize this in fun and unique ways. Still I wouldn’t like to see us not being able to fly in the zone be need to obtain requirements from. Hoping they don’t do that again… putting that gently.

It’s been this way since BC. Starting then, there has pretty much always been current content no-fly zones.

Cata and BC had them as well. Can’t remember off the top of my head if Wrath had any, it’s been way too long.

Flying has been done poorly since WoD. There was no problem with flying until Blizzard made it a problem.

There was content that required flight to access in MoP too.

Flying always should be given when you level cap. and it should cost gold, no need for complicated system it should be the natural reward for hitting 60.

Unless of course you got +20 in the 42 years of Covid, then you can just teleport there.

I was just talking to a friend of mine about how FFXIV does it right. I’m done leveling through and exploring the zone, now I get to fly in it for the day to day work, gathering, etc. to do there.

Filling a zone with 10 gold treasures that I have to spend 30 minutes trying to find the magic maguffin to make the treasure obtainable isn’t fun or exciting. I’m tired of the 40 foot drops or a path with 10 enemies aggroing me making sure I get dazed and have to hit my buttons to get away.

Just. Let me fly.

I agree with you in preferring the Cata model. That’s how it should always be imo. It was inexpensive and useful while zones were current.

WoD and BfA allowed flight in all zones once we were allowed to unlock flight. Legion had Argus, but you could fly everywhere else, including Broken Shore while it was current. SL is the first xpac so far where we don’t have any zones that allow flight while they are current so far (and that needs to change).

If they’re insisting on delaying flight to a future patch (and I’ll keep delaying buying the xpac until flight is enabled as long as that’s the case), then ALL patch zones for that xpac need to allow flight from the time they are released. No exceptions.

lol I did this earlier today. I was at Hero’s Rest. Mounted my mount and rode right over the edge. My non flying ground mount.

I still forget that I can fly and only remember as I go running through an Army of Spriggans.

Why we can’t just fly in Korthia is beyond me, and hell even the maw (but maybe add a “mawsworn gaze” thing so you can’t fly for too long at a time). As you said we now have these zones that we spend a lot of our time in for 9.1 and we can’t even use flying which we got in… 9.1. Hell even Oribos doesn’t let you fly like seriously.

Nailed it on the head, it sucks we got it so late and so many areas dont allow it.

they should just let us fly from now on. it’s really annoying they are so restrictive lol

think outside the box, and start designing your worlds and quests with flying in mind from the start

we couldn’t fly within Northrend Dalaran during the LK expansion which is why there were so many mammoth parades like this

which seems similar as to why we can’t fly around in Oribos

Agreed that getting flying seems weird given players have little incentive to actually play in the zones in which we can fly. It’s still nice for traveling to keys and around your covenant hall at least…

Hopefully it’ll be more useful in 9.2 but it’s a shame that Bliz made these four beautiful covenant zones and then quickly corralled players into other areas, making the four zones mostly obsolete.

A true & real

This group at Blizzard didn’t have any part of the original implementation of flying, so these people can’t regret it. Even if they were with Blizzard at the time, no one that had authority, and pull back then is there now. These people can lament all they want, but they can have no regret.
