So, now that we have Dragonriding and Flying both in DF, I’m wondering how people are using both abilities?
I find myself using Dragonriding for long distance travel, and Flying for short term stuff, and especially anything that requires precision. Those High Peaks, for instance, aren’t as daunting as they used to be. Similarly, in some of the highly branched areas of the Emerald Dream, Flying can be much more useful.
So call it about 50/50. Wondering about y’alls thoughts on this.

I still use dragonriding for everything. It was always the style I prefer. I would prolly ignore my old flying mounts completely if I didn’t have to use em in old world areas/dungeons.
Heh, can’t wait for the next patch.

I’ve been using normal flying more often. Dragonriding has a higher top speed, but it’s kinda awkward to maneuver at times, to the point where I’ve even been using flight paths more often than I used to.
Plus, normal flying mounts can hover which makes me feel better if I’m gonna tab out for some reason.

Old flying. I hate dragon riding and I bet from now on we’ll get free dragon riding and actual good flying will be locked behind pathfinder.

I only use normal flying when I don’t have the option to use dynamic flying. Can’t wait for the update that will make it work in all zones and super excited to try it out in the druid flight form once that update happens as well.

The only time I’ve had to use normal flying is to get those annoying treasures where you have to land on a branch or follow an NPC that flies around on walking speed to 3 different destinations (e.g. the Triflesnatcher in Emerald Dream). I’ve been using dragonflying for everything else.

Mostly use regular flying unless I have to travel far. So it’s 80/20 slow flying vs dragon gliding for me

Df zones are just too big to not use dragonriding for long distances. I still prefer to use fast travel if I’m not in a hurry for most places. I use regular flying to go around in cities or quests or if there’s no fast travels or if I just want to hover of some place where a mob could be accidently pulled to me while I afk.

the only time I’ve used regular flight on the Isles (and in the dream) is the like five times I shifted my druid into flight form to fly like a few feet . . .
Dragon riding all the way.

Druids are going to love using both.
Little black raven form is gonna dominate.
If Im doing short hops its old flying otherwise its always dragon out.

I have used regular flying twice. It was to get some treasure that was in a tree branch .
Drag riding 100% of the time otherwise.

Static to afk hover or get a treasure.
Dynamic for everything else.
I’ve been using normal flying for everything and now if I have to use dragonriding for a quest in the Emerald Dream, I use the accessible one Blizzard implemented (even though I don’t need to - it’s just easier and more chill for me). I’m glad people have a choice now. I never liked dragonriding and I don’t mind taking the few extra minutes to get across the DF zones more slowly with normal flying.

Mostly my normal flying mount now, i use my dragons for long distance or quick travel to catch an already in session super bloom, or a soon to start rift or something. I even use ground mounts from time to time i just kinda go with how i feel is most beneficial for me atm.

Same here. That’s pretty well been my experience as well.
Although doing the Superbloom on my Druid and using flight form to grab/water all the plants is nice since I don’t have to dismount.
I think the only thing I’ve used old flying for since we got it is getting treasures in some of the tree branches in the new zone and collecting the bug swarms during a superbloom.
Dragonriding is superior in basically every other situation.

I’ve been leveling some classes and using both is absolutely perfection. I use DR to fly from hub to hub and regular flying while I’m doing the quests. Having both options is honestly amazing. We should have both options from the start of TWW.
I, quite literally, will never use old flying again.
It is slower, less efficient, and dated.
The only downside is that there are mounts that I’ve collected that will never get used, but I’m pretty confident that everything will have dynamic flight capabilities at some point.
