I use dragon riding almost all the time. As a druid it’s nice to pop into flight form for a few things here and there, cause of the no cast time too tho
I use dflying. might use flying for node mining on cliffs.
80/20 normal flying
I only use old style flying when I have no other option. There’s very few instances where I feel like old flying is better in any way.
I use static flight (is that what we’re calling it now?) as a tool. A surgeon’s scalpel to quickly and precisely reach objectives that Blizzard intentionally put in difficult to reach places.
Other than that, no. It’s all dynamic flight pretty much all the time on the dragon isles. Because I don’t need a scalpel to cut my steak.
80% Dragonriding / 20% Flying
I really like that I don’t even need to touch the ground and aggro mobs while mining with old flying. I use it unless I have to go far.
Dynamic flying almost all the time. Old flying if I need precision to reach a specific nearby spot that’s hard to land on with dynamic flying.
Long term, I could see them mixing the two together. I mean, allow a player to hover and maneuver by pushing one button while dynamic flying (kind of like the aerial halt ability with dynamic flying), and then surge ahead to go back into dynamic mode.
I pretend dragonriding doesn’t exist most of the time. I don’t care if I’m slower than those using dragonriding. I use regular flight around 95% of the time or more.
I only use dragonriding when forced to. I had to use it in The Storm’s Fury wq because dragonriding was enabled but regular flying was not. I couldn’t get on the platform without dragonriding and jumping off the platform can often lead to severe injury or death without dragonriding since it’s pretty high up. I do have heroic leap on my warrior to help prevent fall damage, so that helped. I didn’t see any other option. Regular flight and dragonriding need to be enabled in all of the same areas, instanced or not.
I’ve clicked the normal flying mount by mistake here and there and it feels like I’m on a wheel chair.
I just earned TBC flying and it feels good. Will never use DR every again.
I actually can enjoy the zones now and explore far more better. Questing is actually a delight once more.
same, dragonriding for long distance and bird form for precision like gathering herbs
I fully use normal flying because it allows me to fly at my own safe pace without my framerates dropping like dung resulting in either flying into something and losing all momentum. Not looking forward to having to go back to Dynamic flying in the expansion when normal flying works fine.
I won’t like dynamic flight until they make a bold move and get rid of vigor. As long as the best way to do it is to fly straight up and then glide down like a dragon icbm I will be fine with taking twice as long to get places in a straight line.
If you think about it what would it hurt if you could just hit space infinitely. You wouldn’t get there any faster and it would be more like flying instead of a rocket launch.
mostly regular flying, it’s just better.
Original flying for superior precision and maneuverability, for leisurely touring, and for sky-perching (also to avoid log-in Vigor drain).
Dragonriding for quick transport, and to feel the wind streaking through my hair.
Well both have their own purpose. Dragonflight is faster and once you get to know the mecanics is easy to use. But try to fetch a treasure chest on top of a branchy tree with your dragon… That’s when regular flying comes handy.
Dragon flying for speed, normal flying for accuracy.
Some of the chests are insanely frustrating to get if there was only dragon flying…
Other than flying for long distance, it is old flying all the way for me. I got all my other glyphs using old flying.
Dragonriding is fun, but I’m not a fan of always having to be in motion. I have kids that call me away from the game and it would be great to just stop and hover until I return. So for that reason, regular flying for me.
