forced BfA for new players is going to be a horrible new player experience regardless.
If that were my first exposure to WoW it’d be my last shortly thereafter.
I would not recommend any new friends to play WoW once that’s enforced, it’s a terrible plan that will not help the game, it will only serve to stroke the egos of this modern Blizzard team.
Nah, BfA was my first exposure to WoW. It’s fine. (Well, actually, BE starting zone was, then I boosted a character straight to BfA).
Actually, I think BfA is better in terms of leveling quests than some earlier expansions. And it’d be even better if the new quest icons are available for BfA (and older zones) and not just for the new Shadowlands zones.
I think there’s plenty of interest in WPvP, just not consistently lopsided WPvP – remember that there were healthy populations of both factions in War Mode up until Horde all hit max and got geared. Blizzard’s seeming inability to balance shard populations is the culprit here.
I’ve never said anything about no flying outside of WM anywhere in this thread. In fact I’ve explicitly said that I’m not for or against PF. Pros/cons can be discussed without sitting in a polarized “faction”.
Lots of people think it’s not a good idea to have new players level in BfA content. I think you’re an outlier.
Legion artifacts are trash now, but they’re the only weapon players in Legion have access to. What will happen to the cost of heirlooms and heirloom upgrades?
I can see the point if people had to level through all the expansions. But if you’re only leveling through one expansion, BfA is the least problematic in terms of story to get to Shadowlands.
Fair enough, I just don’t see any cons in flying. It’s something that’s been in the game since 07 and was (almost) freely given to us during the most successful years of wow’s existence.
Now please don’t spin that as I mean flying is the number one reason for wow’s success during those years. It’s not. However it did go a long way to encourage player freedom and exploration.
It’s always been true, but to different degrees – in older expansions with much smaller ilvl gaps it was much less of a problem. It used to be that even a fairly fresh capped player could at least put up a bit of a fight against a highly geared raider (especially if they were skilled) but now if there’s any gap at all the less geared player is probably getting curb stomped regardless of skill involved.
Yeah that is indeed unfortunate but that is the draw of World PvP. Either you turn it on wanting the danger keeping you on your toes or you would rather spend time in a different way by disabling it.
2 options that would allow flight from the beginning:
Make the process of getting flight hard enough or expensive enough to where it’s reasonable to choose to not obtain it. For example if it costs 800K to unlock flight, someone may decide they’d rather have the gold. The way it is now, there’s no reason to not use a flying mount.
Balance flight via some type of mechanic. Make it a utility instead of the only way to travel further than 50 yards.
They’re trying to pretend that the story in leveling content BfA will be critical for understanding of what’s happening in Shadowlands. The opposite is true. Most of the story either happens in the many end content questlines a new player will never see, or was left out of the game to sell more books.
That’s why I said it’s the least problematic, not that it doesn’t have any problem. At least, with BfA, you have all the current allied races in place.
