There is a huge WoW refugee population in FF because of PF.
PF drives a wedge between existing players and stops returning or new players. I had a hunch with shadowlands revamp that existing PFs would be a huge obstacle for new or returning players.
Time will tell what will happen to “current” PFs but my guess is that they too will be phased out and then the entire concept of PF may be phased out.
Well that’s jolly nice for folk. And makes sense since those expansions are on par with those prior as the official “old” content, with new players starting in BfA.
Pathfinder being used as a stopgap for sheer lack of content is what caused many people to leave. I can appreciate the reasons for having to do some content first but we could do without the miserable time gating.
As a person who likes the concept of Pathfinder, but dislikes the current implementation, I feel that this is a good change.
Pathfinder wouldn’t be so bad if Part 1 awarded flight in zones released with the expansion right when you earn Part 1, or at the very latest, the first major content patch (x.1) instead of waiting for the expansion to be half way over for the Part 2.
Generally, I like the idea of an account wide achievement that unlocks flight for every character on the account.
Its odd, because I noticed this behavior already in Shadowlands Alpha. On the Alpha, I am currently able to fly in BFA zones too without pathfinder, but I don’t see that listed here.
Any comment?
Good change. Waiting for the feedback from people who want the requirements to fly removed right now. We are looking at quite the content drought so would not be against it.
well lets see then May 23rd 2015 makes this announcement
h ttps://gamerant.com/world-of-warcraft-no-flying-mounts-warlords-draenor/
then on June 10, 2015 Blizzard then makes THIS announcement
h ttps://www.icy-veins.com/forums/topic/12577-flying-returns-to-warlords-of-draenor/
so within 2 weeks Blizzard goes from NOT happening to ok flight is coming back and you really expect people to believe that quick turn around on flying had nothing to do with massive sub losses
if flight wasn’t the issue then why did Blizzard even create pathfinder at all? I mean if the issue wasn’t so big they would’ve clearly ignored it altogether don’t you think?
deny it all you like but obviously flight had a bigger impact than you think otherwise why else did they back peddle that quickly?
The problem with no flying in warmode as the first half of BFA expansion showed is that Rogues, Monks and DHs dominate world PVP. Flying actually creates parity for other classes to escape and engage in world PVP.
Probably a test before making a concrete decision. Since BFA would be “end game” content for accounts without Shadowlands (assume accounts get the bump up to BFA once Shadowlands rolls around) I think they might keep that Pathfinder intact.
I’ve always said eventually they will loosen those restrictions for old content, it fits their pattern perfectly. As soon as stuff becomes old and rusted, it becomes free for all because they got a new hotness to focus on.
Those are both from the announcement of flight never being in the game again in any new or future content, not about PF being implemented.
I, too, fought to keep flight in the game after that announcement.
That has zero to do with PF. In general, the original announcement of PF was well received by the community. It wasn’t until Legion introduced a Part 2 that people started complaining about it.
There is no doubt that the “no flight ever again” announcement caused a massive sub loss. But PF did not.
This sounds good. Can you also lower the flight requirements a bit for BfA when Shadowlands comes out? If we’re keeping Pathfinder for every expansion, I’d love it if the current xpac requires the usual Pathfinder stuff, the xpac before has a lessened version of their Pathfinder reqs (as it’s not current content, but still recent), and then anything before that has Pathfinder requirements removed.
I don’t actually like world PvP. I prefer BGs. I was taking the previous poster at their word that people who like world PvP universally dislike flying since I’m not really part of that community. It sounds like it is more complicated than that.
