Flying is 'at a nice middle ground'

We’ll be at a nice middle ground when he’s gone.

The players are not the only entity allowed to decide if something’s a problem or not.

Meh i never bought or played this game based on conveniences of flying, it is nice to have and when I can fly I do but if it were gone tomorrow it wouldn’t phase me one bit.

When we had to pay for flying I only had a couple of characters that had the fastest flying available and only a handful of characters had flying at all. With pathfinder I can get flying on all my character with out paying for gold and only have to spend it on the different speeds if I want to. Now I more gold to spend on other things.

There is no place i cannot go in the open world that requires me to have flying, sure it may take a little longer to get there. Overall it is just a convenience not a necessity, i can also understand the allure of flying and as a mount collector I would sure hate to have to ground my flying mounts but even then I didn’t base this game on the premise of flying.

Yeah, never said it was so not sure why you felt the need to point that out.

How many subs lost under his reign, thinks that settles that

No we’re not. This current flying situation is terrible. Pathfinder is terrible.

The middle ground is bs. We had no need for a middle ground as their was no issue until blizz made it an issue

I am waiting for the xpac where they announce flying at max level with no requirements as a major feature.

I love that he says we can “look forward” to it in future expansions. Ion, since you apparently read the forums ALL the time, what you have offered isn’t a compromise. It’s not “fun,” you’ve just disguised having no flight as some great thing to unlock. We don’t want to unlock flight for obsolete zones. Take your “making the world bigger” garbage and shove it. You’re not making the world bigger, you’re making it annoying to play in. I WELCOME you doing things that will make the world feel alive, by all means. Just let me fly in it ffs.
And no, I don’t want to burn out on pointless rep grinds to maybe unlock the ability when the area is no longer relevant. You got your wish to remove flying, we’re just not stupid enough to believe you.

“x wasn’t a problem until x made it a problem” is a fairly vacant statement.

That’s how problems work, see. A problem is never a problem until someone has a problem with something. Blizzard had a problem with how flight worked in their game and thought it necessary to change it. Just because players were fine with how flight was working doesn’t mean that Blizzard had to be fine with it too. Your comment said directly that their opinion on flight doesn’t matter: players were fine with it so change was unnecessary.

A middle ground to me would be after pathfinder 1. By that point one has done all the current content.

Flying makes it faster/easier to knock out emissaries in old zones, which in Legion I definitely found myself doing on my main (and given what I’ve heard about azerite in 8.2, I’ll be doing in BfA as well).

To be fair, Pathfinder awarding flight is not timegated, as that follows the assumption that it awarding flying is included with the attached expansion, but unearnable until enough time has passed (with no way to increase/decrease that time). For the three expansions that used the Pathfinder model, not a single one had flying included with the expansion: all three had to have flight patched-in.

you cant fly on middle ground can u lol

its more of a hop and a skip until gravity takes over

I’m not a fan of Pathfinder, and would rather be able to fly in x.0, but I do want to mention that we’ve seen this in almost every expansion.

  • The entirety of Vanilla.
  • Isle of Quel’danas
  • Molten Front
  • Timeless Isle
  • Tanaan Jungle
  • Argus

As far as what I personally want, i’d like it to be unlockable in the launch.

As far as compromise I think the X.1 or X.1.5 patch would be more reasonable. And then for X.2 you’d have to unlock flying seperately for the new zone(s)

Flying is locked until later because the flying mechanic itself is way overpowered. The correct way to have flying from the beginning of the expansion would be to change the flying mechanic, balancing it with other means of travel.

Bear with me… Pathfinder is okay and it is a middle ground BUT… It has been too long in coming though. Mostly, this is probably just really apparent because of how un-fun this expansion is. Of course people want to just fly over it ASAP. If the expansion were a lot more enjoyable, I wouldn’t miss flying at all and would prefer Pathfinder. Just isn’t the case here.

In short, I think I need to either fly or need a better expansion. Either I would be totally happy with. At the moment I want to just skip over everything with flight because BFA kind of stinks

I don’t really care about flying either way.

Even if I could buy flying day one the moment I land on the new continent, I wouldn’t, that would really kill the leveling experience for me.

I’d probably buy it after I finished though.
