Probably because they’re timegating part 2 for WAY too long
Pathfinder itsself isn’t so bad but their insistence on timegating everything is aggravating.

It’s not a good middle ground. Not at all.
The only reason flying is an issue is because Blizzard made it an issue.
I absolutely CANNOT wait until we get a new game director. The welcome has been worn out.
In all honesty Pathfinder is not a bad concept. The problem is that it needs to be unlock-able from launch. Not unnecessarily gated behind patches. To have people sitting on the completed achievements and requirements for months until patch arrives is TERRIBLE GAME DESIGN.
I agree.
Mind pointing out where I said “I hate” flight, I said I wish it was never added. Again I can accept the reality of the game and yet dislike a feature that was added. I think Wraith was the best expansion yet but that doesn’t mean I am not going to buy or play the others…
Some players say always flying.*
On a very technical sense, this is the middle ground and he even pointed out on the one hand there was “fly as soon as possible” or “no flying ever”.
The problem of course is that we are how many months into the expansion now and no Pathfinder Part 2 in sight.
The lawyer is so out of touch with his customers. As long as hes at the helm nothing is gonna get better IMHO… We shoulda already had flying by now.
well I guess they don’t like 15 bucks a month I would have spent if I could fly now everywhere.Let me guess and when we do get flying they will have new materials in new zone you can’t fly in making old mats pointless. Well they can stick their no flying passive aggressive attitude where the sun don’t shine.
Blizzard probably regrets ever adding flying at all. Guess they were making more money back then and could afford the faster leveling it provided.
Oh yea tell us how battle hardened you are. Tell us tales of how difficult the game was 15 years ago.
This is a video game and open world content hasn’t been dangerous in over a decade. You want challenge? Go raid/M+/pvp. Being grounded isn’t challenging its tedious.
A “middle ground” is their definition of time-gating. I think a compromise or option for flying would be to enter the new zones with flying. Have definite goals and have a cut off period to allow people to “maintain flying”. If you dont make the cut off you will not have flying. Cut back on the reputation a bit but allow players to flying in the new zone and expansion. Work on those goals while you do the story initially. It makes sense.
You seem to have left out Timeless Isle intentionally, since it doesn’t help prove your point.
^ Basically.
What he means by “nice middle ground” is:
“By the time you can fly, you really do not need to”.
Seriously? No!
DING DING DING DING DING!
Not sure what game you were playing but Wrath was max level - 70, cost like 5000g for flying license - you needed epic flying, especially if that was your speed in TBC. Northrend was too huge for normal slowbutt flying.
Your alts could get it at 68 if the main paid for it the expensive “early flight license”. They still had to get to 68 on foot. Another 5000g fee.
Same for Cata, Mists. Warlords was the first pathfinder and the alts got to fly from the start of that xpac if your main kept them back (which nobody did since alts were very useful in Draenor crafting/gold making). They hoofed most of the xpac also.
Either way, flying costs time or gold or both since it took time to make the gold to pay for flying. It’s fine the way it is now with whistles and taxis and portals.
My allied race characters will wait for flying since they’re not needed for my game - just something to do later, way later near the end of BfA.
It’s a total middle ground - we play the game on at least one char the way the devs want us to see it. Then we get to fly (for all the chars) for zero gold. Works well for me.
Actually it just demonstrates how much gaming has changed in the last 15 years, and how poorly WoW has adapted to those changes. There is a reason they stopped releasing subscriber numbers.
There is either flying, or not flying.
There is nothing in the “middle.”
Pathfinder isn’t designed to get players to appreciate the zone before being able to soar over them. If that was their true goal they would have just allowed flying after completing the zone storylines. It’s true intentions are more sinister.
Pathfinder was created in WoD after massive player backlash for an expac that was half baked and was not able to finish the areas beyond what ground mounts could traverse. So they slapped on time gated requirements and jangled keys in front of us so they could have more time to finish after many months what should have been in the game in the first place. They then realized this was also a good way to entice players to comeback while also slowing them down in the first year of an expac, thus increasing time-played metrics without regard for fun or considering that pepole don’t like to wait and work for something they had for free before.
Eventually players will slowly accept this as the norm and may even defend these soley corporate/investor driven acts. People need to read between the lines and understand the true motivations behind any changes or shifts in the design of the game.
