Fluorescent Green Mechanostrider - Added to SOD but not retail

With deep respect for the game and its community, I appeal to Blizzard to reconsider the strategy of exclusively releasing content in Classic that isn’t available in Retail. The Fluorescent Green Mechanostrider is just one example of several unique items, including pets and now mounts, that have been introduced in Classic but not in Retail. Notably, some of these mounts were originally obtained in Retail only through rare occurrences, such as an inadvertent distribution by a Game Master. We understand the value of earning these items through dedicated play. Therefore, I kindly request that such exclusive content be made accessible in Retail, possibly through achievements or specific challenges, allowing all players the opportunity to earn these distinctive pets and mounts.

the black battle tank also was once rewarded on retail, 20 years ago. then it was in classic. did you get mad that they added that mount to classic that was once obtained on retail too?

I just want that mechanostrider now. Put it in the shop if need be.

So when it’s been happening with pets for years now, it’s not a problem. It’s only when it’s a mount that you decide to speak up?

Real tired of people who think pet collectors should deal with table scraps but mount collectors somehow deserve to be on a pedestal.

what pets are in classic that haven’t been re-introduced into retail?

i can’t even think of one example.

Wonder why unused but existing mounts like this weren’t on the TP sooner.

Nobody has it - there’s no player friction to releasing it.

Hoplet was an entire year until they added it this year.

Glub is still Classic-Only. (There is an identical pet named Blub hidden in the Retail Journal, but we have no idea how or if they will ever add it. But even if they do - Glub will still be Classic Exclusive, just without an exclusive model.)

Pebble is Classic-Only.

Flurky is Classic-Only.

Cypress is Classic-Only.

Which sucks the most, because Cypress is a gorgeous pet that we have nothing really similar to in retail.

All of these are unique models except Pebble, though Pebble is a unique recolor.

At least with the mounts that are classic-only, they’re simply lower texture quality versions of mounts that exist in Retail.

Pet collectors however, get screwed over by locking unique models behind classic only.

that is a classic only promotion - it was never meant to be added to retail.

also a classic only promotion

also a classic only promotion - retail received other rewards for that promotion.

these pets were never meant to be added to retail, they were created only for classic.

it’s perfectly acceptable for classic to have some content that makes it unique for the classic players.

also there are mounts that are only available in classic that aren’t available in retail such as this:

Kalu’ak Whalebone Glider - Item - WotLK Classic (wowhead.com)

that’s just how the game works - there will be some rewards for classic that aren’t available in retail.

and that whalebone glider is a unique model, not available anywhere in retail.

Stop telling Blizzard you are willing to be triple-dipped by them…

Doesn’t change the fact they shouldn’t exist and my point still stands.

People are fine with classic-only pets because they look down on pet collecting.

But when it’s mounts, suddenly it’s a problem.

the thing about this is that there are ALOT more mount collecters in the game than there are pet collectors. So, obviously there will be more people making posts about mounts than there will be about pets.

i genuinely dont know one person who collects pets. i used to collect pets but got bored with it somewhere around MoP and haven’t done any pet battling or collecting since.

it’s just the way it is when mount collectors are a larger percentage of the wow playerbase.

That’s a lot of text to say “I also don’t view pet collecting as important, so you should be quiet.”

The larger portion of the wow playerbase doesn’t view it as important, and since majority rules…

Your rude attitude doesn’t help your cause either. Coming into a thread and being upset people aren’t automatically supporting your cause isn’t going to win you any sympathy.

On top of this, there’s no money in pets for Blizzard unless they’re on the store. The number of people subscribed to this game just to play Walmart Pokémon is probably less than 1%. From a business standpoint you most likely aren’t worth investing in for Blizzard.

well, here is the reality: there just simply aren’t very many pet collectors in this game anymore.

it’s not that i’m saying “pet collecting isn’t important.” I’m merely pointing out that obviously there will be a lot less posts/threads regarding pet collector issues simply because there aren’t enough pet collectors to make a noticeably significant amount of threads on the subject.

then, you may ask, why do people view mount collecting as more important than pet collecting?

the simple answer is that they don’t: many people just aren’t aware that pet collecting even exists.

and, yes, mount collecting is a much more popular activity in-game than pet collecting - that’s the reality you have to accept.

since mount collectors outnumber pet collectors by a VAST AMOUNT, the desires of mount collectors will be communicated much more often than the desires of pet collectors.

this is exactly the point and 100% true.

also, this is 100% a valid point…

if you are going to come into mount threads (that are totally unrelated to pet threads) and attempt to derail them by being rude, then people are not going to sympathize with you.

i would suggest that you make your own thread regarding the pets and have a polite discussion regarding pets in that thread.

Op you would literally never EVER USE IT id bet my life on it. Theres a billion different mounts in this game god forbid classic has ONE retail doesnt

That. Doesn’t. Matter.

You’re saying because there’s more mount collectors, their feelings matter more than pet collectors.

They don’t. That is a HORRIBLE mindset to have.

Putting you on ignore for being ignorant

no, i just said that there are more mount collectors so obviously there will be more posts regarding mount collectors’ desires:

But I am. If it gets me a mount I want, I’m fine with it.

It’s a +1 hideous tint nobody would ever use.
