Classic isn’t retail though.
Classic exists as a whole other … effectively dimension of WoW. So why would they add something to retail that shouldn’t exist in retail but can exist in Classic because it would’ve existed, even if only as an extremely rare item due to weird drops and/or GM mistakes. Why would something like that be added to retail when it belongs in, respectively, Classic and Vanilla?
firstly, I am a pet collector also, and I have made posts about pets also.
Secondly, I am sick and tired of them putting stuff in classic only

What drives me bananas is that they cant even “battle” and battle pet in Classic; so what’s the point of even putting them in classic wow? It’s like giving Classic mounts that won’t move - pointless.
This has the same energy of “It’s their birthday, but you get a present too.”

Legit question what do you even do with pets?
I have 400+ and have never done a thing with them. I just tried to sell 2 on ah that were goin for over 100k. Nightmare whelping and another i dont remember the name on, but i have no idea why they are worth so much.
Mounts are transportation but pets are for what? I know theres pet battles but isnt there like only a few meta comps and the rest dont matter? I dont see anyone running around with them or anything
This is where I stand as well. There shouldn’t be any collectible exclusives in a chronologically older version of the game versus the current game. Now we’re going to say it’s an alternate timeline, and these pets just, for some reason, only exist in this random other timeline? We have been complaining about these arbitrary exclusives since the very first ones, which I believe was the TBC epic bundle. Imp in a Ball was added for 6-month subs, bit only to Classic. Granted, you could still get it in retail from TCG, but for those of us who don’t already have it, why limit it to just TBC Classic?
Pets can be used to effectively transfer money from one server to another, since you can acquire them on one character and then cage them on any other. This has turned them into a weird kind of currency all their own.
Also some people just like collecting stuff.

You’re making the Fluorescent Green Mechanostrider sound like this mythical mount, but how many people playing the game today have heard of it, let alone know its story to even be bothered by it being in Classic but not retail?
And yes, while rare (those that know the story know that rare is an understatement) it’s just a Mechanostrider.
I have no issue with them adding mounts or pets that are exclusive to classic, or to SOD, or to retail, or any other variant that comes along. They’re all their own games with their own communities and ecosystems. Adding rewards to those games rewards people that play them. You may as well be complaining that you can’t play as Winston or Hanzo or use the horse from Diablo 4.

That probably means those two wont sell then i bet if its just ppl swapping gold
Not necessarily - it’s not people buying their own auctions, because you can’t do that. It’s people just using the AH and pets to transfer value, which still depends on other people buying and selling.
I don’t know how prevalent it is now that the AH is region-wide for some stuff, and they probably won’t sell quickly, but they probably will eventually.
Sounds like my stinkrot smasher.
Sucker took forever to sell but got a cool 250k for it when i bought for 80k
Leave it on SoD, retail has enough collectibles.
SoD is unique, leave it alone imo.
If it’s brought to retail, it’ll just be another +1 mount you’ll never use, because it’s an old model.
these aren’t battle pets - they didn’t have pet battles until MoP so there would be no need to give them abilities.
