Flight: Enough Already!

I am a player, and have NOT done pathfinder 1. These are not “facts”. The idea that “all players are exactly like me” is pure nonsense. It is as far as you can get from “fact”. In a 2016 public interview, one of the devs said “Less than half the playerbase raids. Less than half the playerbase does PvP. Less than half the playerbase does any one thing in WoW.”

In my opinion, the “no flying for 6 months in a new expansion” rule is part of Blizzard’s business strategy. Blizzard is a company that is competing for new players in the retail MMO market, so they use strategies. They do not discuss their business strategies publicly, and “talking to players” is talking to the public.

So we do not hear their real reasons for this rule. We hear devs like Ion (who does NOT run the company, and did NOT make this decision) talk about “immersion” to try to justify the strategy to players. But “immersion” is not Blizzard’s actual reason for the rule. I think you are 100% right – if “immersion” was the real reason, it would not take 6 months. But it isn’t.

I am sure you will be able to do it on more than 1 toon. I did Legion pathfinder on 3 toons. In BFA, I have done parts of pathfinder on 2 toons so far. As soon as one character gets an achievement, others do too.

For example, yesterday I completed the Storm’s Wake rep. As soon as I reached Revered on Rainstorm, I checked Karix’s achievement panel, and Karix had that part of “Azerothian Diplomat” completed. I also did “Kul Tourist” on 2 toons, and got credit on all my toons.

No one knows. Part 2 hasn’t been released yet.

Exactly. I still remember that whole fiasco.

i want old flight back… get to max-level, then shell-out a buttload of gold. i don’t get what was wrong with that… i mean, skipping content? us players should be able to skip the content we don’t like… and besides, who used flight to skip stuff?? it was a more convenient way of GETTING to content then skipping it!

Your alt hasn’t been immersed enough. Try again 1 1.5 patches later

Actually the opposite is true.

The longer pathfinder continues, the more expansions include a version of pathfinder, and the greater in amount of content required for each one, the more customers will give up and stop trying.

We can only guess why they haven’t changed pathfinder except to increase the amount of work and decrease the quality of the content that must be endlessly repeated before they finally give us flight after current content is obsolete.

But one thing is certain: many people have left over pathfinder, some returning only to leave again and never come back. But none have ever joined because of the existence of multiple waves of pathfinder that will be required of any player to unlock flight in all zones.

yeah it’s been a complaint for a while. I wish they never would have added flying. and I’ll never get pathfinder because I burned out on questing sometime during wrath.

No, I meant I don’t remember all the complaining about flight or lack of on the forums.

Sorry I should have been clearer.

I would support this.

I liked getting a bare bones chimera at the end of WoD’s pathfinder. Was an extra treat because I knew nothing about pathfinder then until I completed it and got the little achievement notification.

So you will be deleting this Demon Hunter then?

I boosted my DH so I could fly
Op thanks for the post.

I am part of the ; " We".
I play the game to fly.

You people need to learn that the dev team doesn’t want you to have flight at all. Pathfinder is the compromise they made with you. They are not going to give you flying in the new zones sooner.

I just finished up BfA Pathfinder - Part 1 yesterday

Lol. The opposite is not true. Sorry, there’s just no way to spin it that way. We, the players, have no real evidence what is killing the game. Blizzard has the best idea about what pathfinder is doing to sub count so it’s perfectly reasonable to argue that if they felt lack of flight damaged the game too much they’d do something about it and they haven’t. You can’t just argue the opposite with anecdotal evidence of people quitting and expect it to hold water.

I personally believe the game will thrive regardless of whether pathfinder exists or not IF the expansion is actually well designed as a whole. Being able to fly in crap content isn’t going to energize the playerbase just like a well designed expansion won’t die out because we have to wait a while to fly.

Further indication of weak argumentation, “people gave me a +1 on the internet, so it validates me!”

Argumentum ad populum. Look it up.

I’d be fine if they never added flying.

This is exactly how my wife and I think. One pathfinder is Ok. Two pathfinder achievements… ? mmm I mean, if Blizzard pump more content for the second pathfinder, well I think its Ok. Its actually fun running around, climbing mountains, falling and dying… all fun. But when you dont have anything else to do in the current content and you have to do a second pathfinder to unlock flying, that is not right.

I agree. Previous expansions should have a ‘purchase’ option, leaving the achievement for those that want to grind it out.

When people are working on prior expansion content, they aren’t working on new content.

I agree entirely! What’s not cool about PF is that we have to wait for the second patch to even start working on pt. 2. Just let us fly after part one…

Thats a ******* great idea right there!
