Flickering issue

I tried what Halconnen suggested and still got it in certain zones, Naj, drust etc. Can be forced by going to upper north eastern map of naj and spam switch weps, dropping from sky etc. Tested on 1080ti ftw3, 1660 TI, 2080TI Ftw3 and 1060. Even switched laptop to integrated GPU for the fun of it and still got it there as well. Latest driver 441.xx and windows updates. Bios also up2date on systems. One is a fresh install. However the suggestion did reduce it some.

I’m experiencing this same issue. I’m specifically noticing it on my shadow priest in Nazjatar in some areas but not all. It’s happens when I activate a spell in combat mostly.

I’m going to say that I am experiencing this as well, but NOT just in WoW. It’s any game I’ve been playing for the past couple of weeks. I use an Nvidia GTX 1060.

Well, seems my issue is back. I’m not sure if I just imagined it was better for a while but today it’s quite pronounced while leveling an alt in Azsuna.

ty for responding, we don’t always hear anything when this sort of thing is going one :+1:

Also experiencing the issue.

I haven’t been able to identify what spells are causing it, but for me it happens frequently on Wakmara (or whatever) world boss in Nazjatar. Sometimes happens in arenas, so it’s definitely not isolated to Nazjatar.

It also happens every couple seconds when playing my Enhancement Shaman. The spec is pretty much unplayable because of how often my screen flickers, I’m not dealing with that.

Flickers are definitely associated with certain spells/abilities/actions. I don’t seem to lose any FPS, get any errors, and I still play comfortably at ~60 FPS at Ultra10. The issue is pretty much just a couple frames being completely black when whatever is wrong occurs.

Using NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970. Noticed I had a driver update as of a couple days ago so I’m about to install that, but I doubt it will help.

This issue started in 8.2.5, and I only experience this in WoW.

If I find anything more concrete, I’ll let you know.

I updated my driver just the other day as WC3 Reforged was recommending it, and when I got to Nazjatar on my Demon Hunter I was leveling, especially in that area around Wekemara, I was getting a lot of the flickering.
Running a GTX 1060 here.

I don’t recall ever seeing it prior to this latest driver. 441.08

On my warlock the flickering only happen when i switch weapons and when casting hand of guldan, or when casting hand of guldan and canceling it by moving, so screen flicker when i press the button and its flicker again when i cancel the cast.

Whats more strange its that only happen when im using a wand as a weapon, if i switch to a staff and cast hand of guldan the screen doesnt flicker, also this doesnt happen at all inside raids or m+.

Im using the latest nvidia driver on a gforce 1070.

I will test tomorrow what Halconnen said, to turn off “antialiasing - gamma correction” in the nvida control panel.

I want to confirm this is the very specific issue I am experiencing. Running a GTX 1080. Was doing Suramar zone stuff and HoG would cause a flicker, but removing my wand and off-hand stopped the flickering entirely! Very peculiar. Also, for me personally disabling the “antialiasing - gamma correction” did not work. Guess I should find a staff? XD

edit: This also happens when my weapons are un-equipped, and I summon my Wrathguard.

Started noticing this the other day as well. It’s especially noticeable in the new naga zone. At times I spot it out here in stormsong as well. I would guess it has something to do with a weather effect or similar(ie darkening). Hopefully it’ll get fixed because it IS very annoying on the eyes.

I started to play my rogue recently and noticed that during attacks, my screen flickers. I haven’t noticed it at any other time or on any other characters that I play. BTW … I have a Radeon VII with the latest drivers.

One way to definitely make it happen is to be in a BFA zone, especially Stormsong or Nazjatar. Just drag your weapon to your inventory and add it back to your main weapon slot (unequip/equip) and it will flash. Also, certain skills do it as well, such as unmounting. I noticed it doesn’t do it in the old zones, like Stormwind.

It’s been over a month now, I wonder what the problem is. I really hope we don’t have to wait until 8.3 for a fix.

I hope this patch doesn’t get pulled, but I just got a client update, 8.2.5.32494, Nov 11 and it is now fixed!

Hey all.

Thanks for the continued correspondence on all this. We do not have any new information to provide on the topic through support. The best I can say is that the developers are aware of the issue. No new information is needed on this topic. Any fix would come through a patch to the game if one becomes available.

Thanks again for following up with us on this.

Are you sure one didn’t become available yesterday? I remember seeing the launcher download something for WoW but I didn’t think anything of it until I was in Naz this morning on my hunter doing the bodyguard dailies before reset and immediately noticed ZERO flickering while fighting the ghosts on the East side of the map.

To make sure, I went and killed a whole bunch of nagas in the Spears of Azshara area, no flickering. Also went to Brennadam in Stormsong Valley and repeatedly mounted/dismounted and swapped gears, no flickering.

Anyone else?

Yep! As I mentioned above, it is now fixed for me with client update 8.2.5.32494.

I had no idea Freesync was even enabled on my monitor. Turning this off fixed the flickering issues I was having on the loading screen and various other things…like opening the map or refreshing the pug group list in dungeon finder.
