Flickering issue

is this flickering issue bad for my new pc?
it is kinda freaky

I feel like it’s getting worse, even with updated drivers and everything, at first it was only really happening in Naz, but now it’s happening EVERYWHERE, and with ALL forms.

I tried disabling the SSAO and still had the screen flickering.

Changing the SSAO setting had no effect on the flickering whatsoever.

I’m having very similar issues. Usually in between combat or when moving. Almost like a faint camera flash. I was also experiencing brightening and darkening, on loading screens. Very frustrating. I’ve tried all the usual “fixes” as well, with no luck.

Yea I tried my best to record it so others could see it, I seen just now in another post that they know about some flickering issue so that gives me hope and maybe this post can help them, it did not matter what DX version I was on, 11 legacy, 11 or 12.

Same here. I tried the different versions, changing resolution, reverting driver editions , disabling fullscreen optimizations, playing in windowed mode, and several others, with no luck. Isn’t stopping gameplay but is definitely uncomfortably distracting.

Patch 8.2.5 breaks the game. Lag after finishing quests, loadscreen flickering…

Yea, I noticed it again now out in Voldun when quickly switching between my Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa’s Rest to mount, and my regular weapon, or upon leaving a flying mount in the air, however it doesn’t do it when i hit the ground like it does in the north east side of the map in nazjatar.

I’ve been experiencing issues like this for a couple of weeks and have identified it as in-game shadows coming and going in my case. I’ve been able to (mostly) eliminate the issue by dropping ground clutter down from 10 to 9.

Hey guys, I was on my Deathknight ALT, and found another gfx issue that is catching my eye, I use the enchant appearance wintersgrasp/avalanch a lot on him but it isn’t just limited to that appearance, see in video below, he sorta blinks in and out of existence well his weapons do not him, and it is super fast, So I changed to the warglaives and they blinked just not as bad, then to my tank weapon and it did it to just not as noticeable. I hope this helps blizzard figure some stuff out. Same thing as above in steps performed.

Edit: doesn’t seem to do it on the character login screen

Both of these issues occur for me OP on two systems. One AMD/AMD and the other Intel/Nvidia. The Queen issue has been around for a while but the flicker in nazj started only recently for me after the 8.2.5 update(s). I hope this gets fixed asap…
I’m running on an ultrawide panel btw but I am guessing this happens on normal 16:9 as well.

Yea I am on 1080@144hz, I even tried switching from DP to DVi DL cable, tried lowering refresh and nothing is working like it use to, I am getting these issues on 3 different systems.

Ok found a few things to be interseting,

I have Nvidia on all machines and was able to recreate this on all.

NVCP (nvidia control panel) When set to triple buffering in the NVCP the swords blink. When I disable it there and in game I get the black flashing in nazjatar doing the mount or landing like the video shows above. When it is enabled in the NVCP I don’t get the black screen flash on any machine. (triple buffering that is) Turning on vertical sync doesn’t seem to mess with it too much. Also the swords was blinking in boralus as well and in voldun with black flashing if TB is disabled. However I get no flashing of black screen anywhere else except for boralus and voldun when shape shifting from mount as seen in videos above.

It’s probably unable to flicker with Trip Buff turned on because that is essentially halfing your displayed frames. So if you had a 144hz monitor and you theoretically could get over 144hz all the time in game and turned on v sync you would clamp the frames output by the panel to 144. By enabling triple buffering you would reduce the frame output to 72. I play with V sync off and trip buff off for reference.

Wow, this has been happening to me as per that video. I have not been able to resolve this whatsoever. I also have 144hz screen, too. I can’t force 144hz in config or have it recognize that. Is it a DX12 thing?

Still getting this issue. Any ETA on a fix?

im still having this issue any fix available?

Hey all,

Just wanted to confirm that this is still on the radar, but unfortunately we don’t have any updates to share.

Thank you for the reports and the information that has been posted so far. We will make sure to update this thread once the bug has been resolved.

I fixed my issue by changing a setting in the NVIDIA control panel by turning
“antialiasing - gamma correction” to off (my in game wow setting for gamma is at 1). Both my desktop and laptop are no longer randomly flickering.
