Let’s hope off the bat for MOP that they have flex raiding. Will make raiding more convenient for guilds with extra raiders. If I recalled correctly I think you could flex raid all the way to 30 raiders.
Flex started at the end of mop if I remember and was an additional difficulty which leaded them to add mythic later on, unless theyre planning to change heroic this wont affect most guilds going for the hardest difficulty.
I’m not a huge fan of flex raiding, and after Classic 2019 thought for sure they’d increase raid sizes to 40 going forward, but that didn’t seem to happen.
Was it MoP proper or pre-patch WoD? I know I can look it up, but I’m lazy sorry.
Flex was added in 5.4.0 which was siege of orgrimmar patch, it was between Raid Finder and Normal, it added another difficulty.
As far as I can find it was wod pre-release which added mythic and removed “flex” as a difficulty but normal and heroic were made flex while the highest difficulty was made a static 20m size (mythic). Pre-release were considered part of the new expansion while not releasing the new expansion content which I think they changed this around with the way they deliver patch in Legion.
ok, that sounds right. it’s been a real long time and I simply couldn’t remember
There’s zero chance that they retune tiers 14 and 15 for flex raiding. That’s way too much effort.
they have been doing it over in SoD with the raids there.
Gee, you mean SoD actually gets dev time? We’ve all known that.
just stating that what you might think of as to much time to make them able to be flex raiding ready may be far more easier to handle. But if you wanna be all uppity about it than go for it.
If you think they’re going through the effort to retune 4 raids for flex after seeing the level of effort put forth for Cata Classic, I have a bridge to sell you.
And it’s not even just damage/health numbers. They have to retune every single boss mechanic to scale to raid size.
Think about mechanics that target X players in 10m and Y players in 25m, those have to get scaled to remain consistent per player from 10-30, and in a way that people won’t meta it by boss.
I don’t recall exactly what boss this happened on back in the day, but there was at least one where people were bringing 12 players, because at 13 this boss would target an additional player with a mechanic and it would make the encounter much more difficult.
It’s just too much effort to do and there’s a reason why they didn’t do this for more than SoO back in the day.
I LOVED Flex raids. The difficulty as well as the scaling with players made that raid experience a ton of fun. Would definitely love to see it earlier and for more content
