New players werent around in TBC, now they need to blow 15k+ gold on some consumes.

lol 50g not a big deal… lets say 0 wipes (reasonable for face roll naxx tier), and you use 20 per raid night. That’s 1000g per week. Nobody who doesn’t either buy gold or is an auction house god is going to consider that worthwhile. For ulduar hard modes and H ICC progression we are looking at up to 2k gold per week.
Fundamentally it really does not matter though, flame caps are like warlocks using dark runes in TBC, they have a net 0% impact on your ability to clear a raid in a timely manner but MIGHT have an impact on you getting a 99 instead of 98 parse. They are only used by sweaty speed runners who cry themselves to sleep if their parse is orange instead of pink.

1000g per week is pretty untenable for a brand new player with 1000g to their name (and no mounts or anything else to his/her name)
Exactly, that’s my point to the person I responded to. And it’s even more when we get to a harder raid tier with actual progression and wipes. Anyone who says 50g per cap is nothing is delusional and living in a bubble, it’s a near certainty they buy gold themselves and thinks their GDKP circle represents the broader playerbase (lol).

It’s actually not that hard to make 1k in a week using the AH and I don’t even consider myself to be an AH god, that being said it is quite a bit of gold for a single consume.

grinding out your dailies will net 500+ per day at the low end. I personally wouldn’t pay that much for one off consumes but 1000g isn’t the hurdle it was in vanilla or even tbc

New players won’t be proficient in mass gold farming, and they’ll be stuck behind, unable to join a guild without proper consumes
Will you admit the futility of this thread if I post logs of mages pink parsing without flame caps?
Whatever happened to clever use of game mechanics? The item exists and was relevant in TBC. Why should it not anymore? Then people complain that Wrath and other expansions make the world feel empty and demand things like RDF, meanwhile here is a perfect reason to visit Outland and perhaps even engage in some world pvp for the flame caps.
If it bothers you so much, just stick to Arcane. Good luck begging the brainless druids to innervate you while I enjoy my flame caps.

How many people are new to WoW in 2023 and just starting off with WOTLK Classic?
A new player can easily have 5k+ gold + epic flying before hitting lvl 80.
Try leveling yourself instead of boosting and selling low lvl crafting mats.
