"Fixed" tunnel jumps incoming?

https://clips.twitch.tv/SnappyClumsyElephantKappaRoss

Blizzard, why are you insisting on “fixing” something that isn’t broken. There is parity in the Alliance and Horde tunnel jumps. They add skill cap and playmaking capability to the game.

This jump existed thru many years on retail. Why now and what is your justification? Will you be fixing all jumps?

Gameplay should be intuitive. Glitchy nonsense should not be a way players gain advantage over each other.

If that were true players would never have asked for vanilla-like spell batching for purposes of vanishing death coils, dark runeing sheep’s etc…

Exploits can become part of the meta and even accepted as part of the game by the developers.

I typically agree with you but on this one I can’t.

The jumps in wsg definitely add an additional level of skill for organized teams.

Also the video only shows one of the many, many jumps. What was/wasn’t changed? The horde top of tunnel jump is imo less powerful than the horde/alliance gy jumps.

The gy jumps let your fc cross the map quickly and safely. Top of tunnel certainly has its uses and is very strong but I’ve alwaya thought the gy jumps were a little more ‘op’

Didn’t watch the video, wouldn’t know exactly which ones he’s talking about and which ones were ignored. I’ve never supported terrain glitchea being used for competitive reasons. For sightseeing, sure, doesn’t hurt anyone. If it was me setting tournament rules, I’d disqualify any team using them.

It’s just annoying is all, and detracts from smooth gameplay. Stopping what I’m doing to do a quick jump minigame is blah.

rofl this has never been a reason to fix things in Classic

If it is, ho boy that’s a long list of fixes that need to come.

Blizzard has explained their position on this time and time again, such as when they fixed dumb jumps in AV in classic. I’ll link it for ya, to make it easy.

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/world-of-warcraft-classic-patch-notes-version-1135/576276

Look at all the jumps fixed:

Terrain exploits

  • You can no longer climb the waterfall and enter the Frostwolf base near the Relief Hut.
  • You can no longer climb the cliff and enter Dun Baldar near the Aid Station.
  • You can no longer bypass Icewing Bunker.

But wait, muh changes, right? They explain themselves:

These were issues that were clearly unintended by the design of the time, and are now fixed

and

  • Developers’ notes: As always, our intention is to accurately represent the 1.12 design intent of the game, and these bugs are clear examples of behaviors that were never intended.

Spell batching (in vanilla) was an intentional and specifically coded mechanic to cope with server/network limitations of the era. Therefore, recreating that intentional mechanic for classic makes sense. Leaving in unaddressed terrain exploits is not the same thing, which Blizzard themselves even explains.

Spell batching is love. Spell batching is life. Cheap terrain exploits are dumb.

It’s kinda silly/further proves how little they know about their own game.

You can just jump up the other side

yea, jumps in wsg are iconic, cant agree with u

Your opinion. And that’s all it is. Exploits aren’t necessarily things that need to be fixed. But if Blizzard decides to fix them then that’s that.

I jumped around the west side of Icewing bunker all the time. Did it all through TBC and WotLK. Seems quite silly to me that they suddenly decided to fix that. There’s a giant snow pile there that never existed. And idk why having two paths there was a big deal.

Alliance can go west or east around Tower Point. Why can’t Horde go east and west around Icewing Bunker? Just doesn’t make sense. They fixed it because… It was a tight fit I guess? Pretty dumb if you ask me.

Literally the opinion of Blizzard.

These were issues that were clearly unintended by the design of the time, and are now fixed

this is wrong on blizzards part, we asked for the game how it was then, and they do this.

Yes. That’s what I said. I said it’s just an opinion.

And again, unintentional gameplay doesn’t mean it needs to be fixed. I don’t think they ever intended for dark runes to be used to break sheep. But here we are. The only real authority on the matter is what Blizzard decides to do. I think they made the wrong decision on a few things. I’m sharing my opinion just as you are.

The terrain exploits in AV to skip the farther north and south choke points I can see. Can you really say they needed to block the west side of Icewing Bunker tho? That one seems like overstepping to me.

We never got that in any form the game. Should have taken away buffed weapons in phase 2 from highwarlord, but didn’t see 100 threads crying about that either.

Everyone wanted something different and they wanted to do what what they felt was intended. It was always going to be this. If you disagree go spin up and edit a private server, or play the game cause you like it.

they are literally killing the only thing enjoyable about classic wow for most druid players

WSG wall jumps dramatically increase the skill ceiling by opening up movement options for those who care enough to learn them. It’s not an unfair advantage since everyone can learn how to do it and how to counter it properly.

It’s sad that we are getting a watered down version of classic just to cater to the casual player base.

And these changes hurt druids the most, arguably the worst class in the game just got worse. Watching streams of competent druid players is mesmerizing, I always found it super cool, dumbing down the game only detracts from the entertainment value.
