It saddens me that I had to scroll this far down in this thread to get to a spay/neuter post.
I’m a noob but can you bake your pets attack into a macro you are already spamming?
Ok, I understand better what you are saying.
I used to do that playing frost mage with the water elemental.
It works way better there because the elemental is range, and the main thing you had to worry about was where you placed it.
The felguard is melee though and there’s some programming in there that tells it to run back to you once the target is dead, even if there’s more around it, so what ends up happening is that it begins running back to you, you tell it to hit something, so then it runs back. It creates weird downtime where it’s just running back and forth. Even worse with the AOE ability as you see it spinning on its way back to the enemy, and be nearly finished once it gets there . . .
on the list of things that are big issues. this isn’t one.
it’s very minor seeing as it’s a mythic only issue, for this specific fight, and it’s very very easily fixed with a super simple macro. Demo locks have had this figured out months ago.
And as a pet class, you really need to learn to micro manage your pets better. especially as demo.
do you let your felgaurd use all of his abilities on autocast? because you know they have their own GCD and you can’t use demonic strength if you’re specced into it while the felgaurd is using it’s ability. In that fight the aoe ability should be a separate cast button for you so you can make sure its off CD and able to use on the adds in the final room.
As soon as you push that macro… the felgaurd will stop running toward you. it only resets if it doesn’t have a target. essentially the issue is that when it loses it’s target and it’s in assist mode, it won’t attack the new thing until you attack it… forcing it to run back to you before you cast an attack.
if you bake in a /petattack macro into your shadow bolt. as soon as you start casting your shadow bot the pet will recieve the /petattack command and begin running toward the new enemy before you even get your cast off. takes less than a second to reorient it.
And guess what… if a melee switches with a ranged on that fight it has to run back to the boss too… the proper strategy is that you’re stacking on the boss unless you have an orb. that way the felgaurd would already be there just like normal melee would already be there.
literally a non issue.
yes
yea… it doesn’t kinda work, it works all the time… unless you have your pet on defensive stance which you never should… because then it wont attack until you take damage… and the ability makes you immune for 10 seconds after you switch so…
just stop being dramatic, put in the /petattack macro and move on.
ezpzlemonsqueezie.
Because I have added /startattack to all my melee commands ( I think that’s what it is) because spamming the generic doesn’t (always?) target my nearest target.
IDK, I hear you wanting it fixed and that’s cool.
I also see these classic threads where people want things the “old way”
Well, the old way sucked and we had to make macros to fix things that weren’t automatic.
Do a /focus macro on the boss or something (I’m not a pro but you get the gist)
Edit* You shouldn’t have to make macros to fix the game, Blizzard should fix the game, and IMHO they have, QOL is soo good people are complaining it’s watered down the game. In the meantime use the Band-Aid.
Old me would have agreed with you, but I’m no longer a WoW slave.
While the advice you give is good, I’m also annoyed that you basically need to learn macro tricks to make the pet work as you want. Like, this isn’t an issue for me in other games. Usually the issue is the strength of the pet (too strong, too weak) rather than just how it behaves in the first place.
In short, when I have one game where I don’t have to deal with that mess, and one game that does, which I’m already struggling to find enjoyable, well, guess which one I end up playing more?
I’m honestly tired of having to do so much in WoW just to make the game playable on a standard that is default in other games.
LOL, don’t let the Classic mob hear you say this. This is what I have been warning them about. But they seem fine with getting dismounted when their horse steps on a puddle.
But I echo your frustration as I have a mental list of NEW macros I want to make to make my life easier, which I shouldn’t have to.
Actiblizzard is a small indie developer, it takes time. Just wait. They need to make things like cash shop store mounts and cash shop toys now as well to raise the money to make those kinds of fixes.
Also, while you’re at it if you could buy their 6 months of WoW for a free mount, that would greatly help them.
what? lol. yet you’re here?
/shrug if you don’t wanna do anything then don’t. Macroing has been in the game since it was released.
then don’t play… i mean… what do you want me to say. you say you’re not a wow slave… whatever that means… yet you’re here complaining about a tiny issue saying bah humbag it makes it unplayable raaawrrrrr. pretty sure you are a slave to wow if you can’t let go of a game and a small issue of setting up a macro is soooooooooooo much work.
dramatic much?
apparently not. because i’ve never had this issue. my SO doesn’t have this issue. and the 10 warlocks in my guild don’t have this issue… you sure you didnt macro something incorrectly?
if it were a big issue… there would be bug reports on it. And i’m not seeing them… just sayin
wow has alwasy had a standard of customization. Addons, weak auras, UI skins and macros.
everyone is different. something you might macro to make your life easier another might not… hence the ability to macro being available.
making this game standard for everyone is a dumb idea.
15 years isn’t enough time to fix pet pathing and AI. Just give them a few more decades and they will have it done.
Yeah, why not?
Yeah, it IS rather ridiculous at this point. Sadly, I’ve just accepted that I play a forever-bugged class. Ritual of Doom anyone? I have plenty of that to go around too.
Yeah my Hunter pets are annoying when I attack and they don’t do anything until I click the Kill Command (Aleast Hunters can get a way out of that, unlike the Warlocks and Mages) spell. But if you are focused on other skills, they will just stand there even when you are attacked.
I miss the days when you could just put them on an attack stance, so anything that came near you, they automatically attacked.
I’m not playing BFA.
This is my main - does it look like I’m playing BFA?
Hint: EXP is turned off.
I’m also less complaining, and more defending a position being put forward.
Discussing WoW on these forums has become surprisingly more addictive than the game itself, and I like adding my cents as someone who had played for many years in this game, but also now ventured and tried out other waters.
No, instead we should find out what the top players are doing, and copy them, so then we can play on their level. Then people are surprised when new players don’t play well, kick them and call them bad, without revealing the fact they have a whole set of add-ons and making everything infinitely easier.
So… in real life… when someone does something better than you, you don’t figure out how?
Like if someone is losing weight faster than you, and you’re stumped… do you just blame it on genetics and tell that person they need to lose weight at your rate? or do you maybe… do some research on how and maybe see that they use addons like an app to help track their workouts, and calorie intake, and that they use scales and other devices to help portion control their food?
like… do you not see how ridiculous your statements are…
You realize reddit is free right… if you weren’t addicted to wow you’d stop paying them money… this isn’t procrastination what you’re doing… you’re a slave to wow because even though you don’t play the game you pay to stick around and talk about it… its seems… kinda unhealthy
