Fix Secondary Stats in Dragonflight! The MOST Important Stat!

Secondary stats are the MOST important stats in the game because this is an MMORPG. We don’t make our builds with main stats, we make builds with secondaries!! If we can’t hit Mastery or Haste/Crit breakpoints then many builds just don’t work. They become a thing of the past and it minimizes player customization and intriguing diverse gameplay that an MMORPG is supposed to have!

One of the unnecessary character nerfs we got in SL that really hurt gameplay from an RPG perspective was the secondary stat DR implementation. Not sure why the Devs don’t want us to create fun builds or theorycraft but that was their obvious intentions when implementing this.

Blizz tried to make it so Main stat > then all but they failed because if my Crit is low or I can’t get enough Mastery it doesn’t matter how much main stat I have. The game just isn’t fun!! It isn’t fun if my haste is in the gutter so my rotation feels clunky. It isn’t fun when I can’t compliment a 4 pc set with the right secondaries like Mastery/Crit. That game just doesn’t work.

So I stopped playing like most people that left. I mostly play my Twinks now because I can actually gem and stat them the way I want as opposed to max level.

However I do write this because dam… I really want World of Warcraft to be a good game again. I want it to be fun and create excitement to log in! Now with the return of Talent trees which is required for WoW to be good again. So hoping they do create a lot of player depth and diversification. However if we can’t get some Secondary stats to meaningful levels again to compliment these Talent trees and Tier sets…the game will still FEEL REALLY BAD!!!

I don’t care what my Item level is if my Secondary stats suck… because item level doesn’t make the game fun. Creating a build does! You make builds with Secondary stats so please remove the hurtful DRs. Please add more socket and gems options to Dragonflight and maybe even bump up base stats.

Gonna be honest I miss stat amps, it was a great time to be alive and really gave us build diversity. Since we make builds with Secondaries.

Edit- Apparently the Versa discussion is taking away from the main goal of the thread so removed it.

True! At least they were when the game was great Vanilla to Cata

Having 2 or 3 socket items with socket bonuses, BS giving extra sockets and JC epic gems in them. There was a lot of customization!

Ohhh bring back Reforging too! Their stance on it is just… well irrelevant. Let players build characters how they want!

This is why I’m still very cautious of DF because it’s great to see them willing to finally change. Just don’t know if they can implement that change anymore in a great way to deliver a good game. I just fully expect at this point something will mess up DF and prevent players from having fun. Hope I’m wrong… it’s just how I feel after all the bad expansions they released.

Which is why I enjoy Twinks now. Max level is just so bad.

Edit- Just had a great idea. Bring back Meta gems in Dragonflight and one of the mods is 15% to all secondary stats. Also add in some other cool Meta gem options.

Forgot about that but YES!

what experimentation? lol. All is simmed and hail the meters.

and as for DRs, it’s to limit player power.

Just ask for more gear while you’re at it, and have people be able to attain 100% crit and everything gcd locked. Imagine a 15% boost to secondaries as something innovative lmao.

Mastery does nothing innovative for most specs, just remove that.

Edit: now that I read arms and fury warrior mastery, why would anyone care about something like that?

It just restricts being able to play the game how you want. Limiting the only stats that gives us build customization in an RPG isn’t the way.

The RPG experimentation! Theorycrafting! You know the reason we play an MMORPG (or at least have) over the years. Players need to be able to achieve the stats they need where a build feel great for them to enjoy. This is common sense I thought.

Honestly there is no reason to play this type of game if you can’t Theorycraft builds.

I thought we were! More gear customization the better. More stat options the better. New gems, reforging, tier sets etc.

Hard disagree, it’s one of the most important stats for customization and changes builds drastically. There are some builds where I love stacking ALL mastery and gem/enchant mastery to make the mechanics of the build work. Which is why Secondary stats are more important than Main stats. Secondaries change mechanics and gameplay.

Mastery is just selective vers.

What? No way!

I was with you up until I read this.

Versatility hold as much stat weight as any of the other secondaries do. Plenty of PvE builds want it. Elemental Shaman, Outlaw Rogue, Survival Hunter and more. Also its meaningful to tanks, everyone in PvP and anyone that just wants to be beefier.

Versatility is unique because , not only does it have an interesting effect in and of itself, it also raises the weight of the other secondaries.

Versatility has definitely secured its spot along the other Secondaries.

I agree with having more stat amplifiers though. A larger variety of enchantments would be welcome along with bringing back more gem slots, multiple gem slots per item, Belt Buckles, Shield Spikes, Shoulder Inscriptions, the old-school leg armors and the multitude of Engineering Tinkers.

I miss when each Professions has some way to stat amp.

Bingo! I spend as much time Theorycrafting in RPG games as I do playing. You remove that then there is no reason to play. PERIOD! These type of games are only interesting if you can build something you enjoy. If DF is going to get back to the basics of what made WoW a great game they need to go ALL in on customization. Talent trees won’t be enough if gearing still sucks.

No thanks. Main stat being the most important is better for the game.

I don’t want a repeat of Legion. What I mean by that is a maxed Titanforged piece could be worse than something with a lot less ilvl simply because it had the right stats. That doesn’t feel good.

Ilvl >>> All is good.

Factually wrong

You are confusing stat weight with customization. Main stats have a high stat weight but aren’t important. What is important is Haste/Mastery/Crit since we make builds from them creating fun gameplay.

Versa has caused more problem and done nothing for build diversity. It’s a flat boring bonus stat the only functions as a build amplifier. It’s just not healthy for the game.

It’s not a true secondary. It’s more like a tertiaries stat.

mastery just further amplifies specific spells. I don’t think it affects rotation much.

Main stats aren’t important though. As I highlighted above. So please don’t confuse gameplay mechanics (which is important) to Main stats that offer higher power.

I didn’t even realize this was an abomb thread. Jesus christ.

No? Vers is BiS for every tank. But this is a troll thread anyway so w/e

I rather stack Mastery on my Tank in BFA ran all Mastery amps and was a great time to be alive. I also rather stack Mastery for a 4 pc Tier set bonus. It would be better if Versa wasn’t in the game as it isn’t a true secondary.

Stop saying what is BiS as that isn’t true. The stat that is BiS is the one you need to create the build you want. We want more build diversity like we used to have. We can only get there with bringing back Secondary stats that create our builds.

Of course it changes rotation and mechanics of gameplay depending on spec/build. Then Haste/Crit also are important for gamplay.

K, so at what % mastery do you shift priority?

Depends on build. On some specs I’d stack Mastery in every slot as well as gem/enchant mastery with mastery trinkets. If gearing and secondary stat optimization wasn’t so bad I’d play SL. Mastery compliments the 4pc Prot set the best. Some builds I’d take a different priority depending on content.

Question are you really arguing having build diversity in an MMORPG? I just don’t see your defense against making a better game again.

It’s a simple question that you’re failing to answer: How does mastery shift priority?

You are failing to answer a simple question. Do you hate build diversity? Why don’t you want players to create builds they want? It isn’t complicated even if you can’t understand it. We just want WoW to be playable and fun again. Just hoping Dragonflight can finally fix everything wrong with the game.

The current state of Secondary stats is something very wrong with the game. So here is a thread addressing that. Now time for the gym. Just trying to add positive change to the new expansion because Talent trees won’t fix everything.

stop dodging the question.

How does mastery shift priority?

players don’t need 100% proc chance or crit or 80% haste for the game to be “functional.”
