the game is this way for a reason. nobody is “playing to not win”. this is the purest form of competitive pvp in wow. its free from all the accessibility changes made over the years of 2006 to present. people enjoy that because there is a distinct lack of handholding. there is no overly complicated system in place to ensure everyone has a good time. theres just you, the que button, and what you do about it.
It’s rudimentary pvp. Rife with balance issues and no rating system. No actual way to track skill such as the later advent of arenas. And a premade vs a pug match is about as competitive as a lev 60 ganking a level 10
But even in later iterations, not everybody has a good time. So that’s pretty irrelevant
There’s 2 queue buttons. I forgive you for not knowing this, seeing as you mentioned you never stepped foot in BG’s, but love to talk about them. One button essentially does nothing due to the meta. A meta that was different than vanilla. People came to classic because they wanted the vanilla experience. Min/max culture has changed that experience
i actually did alterac valley premades for 2 days straight 12 hours a day had a 99% winrate, 7 minute games, got rank 7, got exalted with stormpike, got my purps and havent done a bg since. why? i get mad when i lose. thats why i played to win.
Ah. That clears quite a bit up. Jeez, all this time and it was just a big misunderstanding
See, for AV, there is indeed just 1 queue button
There’s 2 other BG’s however, WSG and AB. These have two queue buttons. One is “queue solo” and one is “group queue”
In vanilla, pressing the “queue solo” button had about a 80% chance of putting you into a game with random teammates vs random opponents
In classic, pressing the “queue solo” button has about a 90% chance of putting you into a match of random teammates against a full team that will steamroll to the point where no one in the pug can get a kill. Ever lost an AV so badly not one single player got a kill? It’s not fun
So picture me. I think I have like 30ish days /played on this char. From the start I had one singular goal: to do casual solo BG’s for fun. No one predicted that classic BG’s were going to be 90% premades. No one. Had someone warned me, I never would have wasted the time even getting started in classic
The fact I wanted to play the game different than people that do organized group pvp, or people that pve, doesn’t make my game experience or my subscription any less valid than theirs
And if I can save just 1 person who had the same goal for classic wow as I had from wasting their time and discovering it is not the same experience as vanilla (for their chosen play style) then it’s worth it
You misunderstand. I didn’t say solos don’t have winning as a goal. They just don’t want to take the steps necessary to ensure that they reach that goal.
yeah bro by all means. i fully understand that your expectations were not met and the competitive scene is much more competitive than it was in vanilla. a lot of it has to do with the availability and accessibility of third party software like discord now.
I actually don’t really care if I win or lose, never did. I actually get bummed when I was in a pug that was absolutely wrecking the alli pug. I want a competitive game. If the match is competitive, but I lose 100% of them, I don’t care one bit
I also don’t want honor, or rank. I’m different in that way. I played BG’s exclusively for fun. Played*
I have reasons for not wanting to group to do BG’s, as do many others. Solo BG’s in vanilla was a thing. It was a BIG thing to many people. That’s why there was a solo queue button. It’s now basically a ticket to a miserable time
“Just adapt”. That’s not why I came to classic. I came to re-create vanilla experiences I had, specifically solo BG’s. That is not possible. Hence I am done, along with many others
Why not offer a pug v’s pug option that yields no honor then all these people complaining can get the “competitive” games they seek, unless they only want the queue’s separated for easy honor!!
No. I don’t organize groups for pvp in hopes I get another organized group. Again, where is the fun in that. I organize a group to gain an advantage over unorganized ones because I want to win and it’s more fun.
you probly played 10 games and 1 was an ally premade… cuz i pug every day and 99% of matches are horde premades where we sit in ghost and cant rez cuz as soon as we do horde kills us or horde priest MC"s us out of the bg and we get a leaver penalty.
No xrealm bgs and normalized size servers. But that’s long gone and out the window.
So next best thing would be to maybe give premades vs premades more honor and make them face off against one another.
Premade vs pug is not fun on either side of the ball for the most part, at least for me that is. Beating someone down who has no chance constantly gets old and old fast. Losing without a chance has very similar effects.
This is the core of your problem. The problem isn’t premades vs. pugs, or any of the other things. The problem is that you came here expecting something that simply could not be. “No man ever enters the same river twice, for it is not the same river, and he is not the same man.”
For future reference, you might consider choosing different wording in the future. Speaking of RNG has a connotation of it involving coded systems within the game, while what you’re speaking about is different. This leads to your words confusing people who aren’t aware of what you’re talking about. It is the equivalent of making an inside joke to a group of people who aren’t ‘inside’. It doesn’t really work that well.
I honestly got sick of losing, thats why i go to premades, you pug in alliance? Its horrible, you got afks, people that dont listen and ELFS, almost every elf in bonus weekend uses racial and stay afk the whole game to get honor, so yes, i like to premade so i dont face stupid alliance afkers
Yes, this matchmaking is the equal to the worst in any game I’ve seen. It is the reason I do premades. Premades is how you get tons of honor and if I could get rid of pugs vs. premades I would happily do so immediately. It’s the fairest way to deal with it and it makes sense.
Also, this won’t happen. It’s cynical, but I’ve never seen Blizzard actually try and balance this.
