God I wish the ED loot was on a vendor, and the three weeklies just rewarded the currency. I’ve had enough cloaks to wrap around the world.
I’ve never seen this happen.
Remember the good times of spending currency from time rift rewards to get what you wanted?
Pepperidge Farms remembers.
I think that’s what makes it extra galling. They did it right with the time rifts and dream surges. Do the thing. Get paid. Buy the item you want. Then they messed it up with the very next set of world content loot!
Considering that chasing loot is a major incentive to play, and directly effects time-played metrics. I would be shocked if they weren’t micromanaging the system to ensure certain averages are met.
I do actually wonder if their seed value is overly fixed on this.
I don’t mind duplicates per se, but I feel like if I hand in the plant seeds weekly & the 1500 rep weekly in rapid succession then I get exactly the same item twice an unusually high portion of the time.
It’s left me wondering if the RNG seed is time based to an excessively large block of time on these items.
I have a character who has done the superbloom, seeds and weekly 1500 every week since it was released and he still hasn’t gotten a set of wrists that upgrade past 437. But cloak after cloak and all the other pieces he already has over and over.
It’s frustrating.
Cannot deny the Emerald Dream triumvirate of weekly quests is really short on loot table. Ultimately it’s small. Repeating the quests week after week expecting different results is is going to drive you batty, however, the only person being fooled by this is well, you. My feeling is that the ultimate goal from these super easily repeatable weeklies is that it’s a hook to get you to the ultimate rep grind goal of level 20 whereby you earn a token that will allow you to craft a 476 ilvl item. TWW will likely contain the exact same systems. Realistically, the Emerald Dream weeklies can assist with some basic gearing up to around ilvl 440 for alts, but expecting different results? Insanity defined, for such a small portion of the overall xpac content.
To be fair, while we know what items a quest or whatever may drop, we do not know the chances of each item.
A quest could give out five different items, instead of all of them having a 20% drop rate (1/5), one could have a 40% drop rate and 2 others only a 10%. (so, 10, 10, 20, 20, 40).
Something like that should show up in statistics if there’s some way to centrally collect what drops when (I know that Wowhead tries to collect boss drop results, dunno if they can/do for quest rewards).
Here we are again. This time around I have received two Frigid Conservator’s Drapes on two separate characters, neither of which were needed and both of which I received the week before I recieved the Cold Crisp Collars that prompted this thread.
Stand to my original opinion. “Toad House” is rigged. As in I believe the system checks what you need and then applies a penalty to it’s internal roll that you must beat before it actually gives it to you. This would also explain why a Leather Wearer or Plate Wearer doing older dungeons for Transmogs, will almost always receive armors they cannot use.
Will post what happens next week.
People in general have a very difficult time determining if results are random or not, because we are hard wired try to find patterns in things.
I definitely think some RNG rewards are skewed in certain favors. I’ve had the bandolier trinket drop from the weekly chest every time it’s offered since the season started. Can’t complain, it’s a great piece and trinkets are hard to come by. It’s funny odds, though.
That’s a neat conspiracy theory but you will find it literally impossible to prove.
Cool. I wasn’t asking for your approval though. People can make their own decisions on the matter.
Did Superbloom and got another Winter Forager’s Cloak in the meanwhile.
You posted your musings in public, so you kind of implicitly did though.
Yep, there’s four cloaks on everyone’s loot table. You’re statistically more likely to get a cloak than anything else. This is not a surprise.
you really don’t think loot is designed in such a way to make people continuously chase the carrot on a stick? You’re really that naive?
RNG does that on its own already. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don’t. No need for some kind of evil algorithm designed to keep you from getting what you need.
I completed the cloth, mail, and plate Superbloom sets within like six weeks of 10.2 launching. I’m still missing the leather shoulders. Random is random.
Ok, dodge the point since it exposes you for what you are again I guess.
Blizz tells people to send feedback to these forums.
You’re antagonizing someone giving feedback in these forums.
While also shillsplaining to them that there’s 4 cloaks in that table. Which is the grievance.
Then using hyperbolic words like “evil”.
Then talking about yourself like people care.
It’s not about you, bud.
It’s never actually about you and how you get off by antagonizing strangers.
Yikes, maybe take it a few notches down there chief.
You’re really not one to talk about others being antagonistic lol
Maybe calm down a bit and then come back if you can have a conversation like an adult.
So much toxicity about gear that’s literally thrown at you.
Go do some mplus instead
