Fix Layering in PVP

I agree not the place to derail the thread by calling people crybabies etc.

And you call yourself a PvP player ?Don’t make me laugh you want to have everything handed by blizzard like a baby, you’re a disgrace for the PvP community.

PvP in classic in about letting the things unfold in a scuffed manner and abuse everyone that has to be abused period. If you’re looking for soft “organized” cringe pseudo events go to retail mr weak

Couldn’t you just use Nova World Buffs and get everyone on the save layer? I dont see the issue here

85% of the population didn’t notice and doesn’t care sadly.

We tried that and it was a fail. We shouldnt have to use an addon to get classic pvp in classic wow. This is just a broken system that everyone who attended would like fixed. When a rival pvp guild is hitting a town and you show up for an 80 vs 80 but you are layered, its a problem.

100% agree - This is exactly what I and several others tried calling out on the initial blue post that went unaddressed prior to launch…

Several good suggestions in this thread:

  • Allow us to manually select our layers without having to do add-on dependent trickery
  • Allow us to opt-in to a specific ‘war’ layer that would enable large scale battles
  • Disable layering all together in contested zones to ensure WPVP is not disrupted

Yes, remove layering so we get guilds like WD griefing entire raids by mind controlling people into the lava in blackrock mountain. No thanks.

I get that it sucks but I think the focus should be on levelling and making that as smooth as possible

Then go play a PvE server.

What makes vanilla PvP great, ESPECIALLY earlier phases, is the guild v. guild PvP. If you don’t like it, you don’t like the game and that’s okay. Leave it to the rest of us to enjoy.

It doesn’t matter, blizzard already found a solution to the griefing. WD cried when they couldn’t do that on SoD so they went to disrupt ERA for a few weeks before they became bored. I hope the current system stays in place.

WPvP on a PvP server is PvP. Thanks for ruining our game I guess.

No, this is exactly what you guys did on grobb. You want giant groups clashing with aoe. That is like the lowest form of pvp with zero player skill being relevant. 5v5, 10v10, 15v15 should work regardless of current layers, but you want 80v80(most of the time will be more like 40v15 like most your engagements have been).

The layers work fine for small scale normal pvp. You guys were allergic to arena in cata & wotlk and farmed city guards until you’re bored enough to now play vanilla.

I dont think blizzard should limit players fun, but what you guys do is just 40v10 nonsense and the rare time its an even fight like an event its still just aoe spam nothingness. You attract the least skilled pvpers and just zerg across a zone running into people that have no chance to fight back and that is the situation the MAJORITY of the time you guys go wpvp including in Cata and Wotlk.

It would be tolerable if you guys didn’t also act like you’re good at the game constantly :joy: aoe spam, lopsided trains rolling across zones, all while being hardstuck 1500 or allergic to arena altogether. It’s a sad combination. Like 40 chihuahuas barking.

Layering is working as they intended & maybe you should reevaluate what you want out of the game. Maybe aoe spam pvp isnt peak pvp? Maybe you should do smaller groups on different layers? Theres other solutions.

Them giving you your own layer for zerg fest events seems like a solution that wouldnt impact other people, but honestly you dont deserve a response from blizz. Plenty of other actual problems with the game.

Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with actual pvp or organized pvp events. But there are certain people out there who go too far, which I have already named. Taking 3 hours to enter a bwl raid because a guild has a group of 40 mages and priests bullying your group of mostly fury warriors and other classes is not fun.

Dual spec may change that slightly, but it’s not going to help much when most raids are still going to be comprised mostly of warriors, who are unfortunately pretty weak against certain classes in vanilla.

APES run to MC on youtube.

Almost like the new systems intentions is a curated nearly instanced retail experience. Sharding is terrible, and it’s not good for vanilla in any capacity. If you defend it, go play retail. You’ll be happier there. Enough of you have already trashed this game.

In my 12 years playing vanilla WoW on classic and pserver anyone who brings up arena rating is dog at the game too.

I was there myself. Im aware of the guild v guild sapper spam.

Ive played vanilla longer than you just full stop. Also i know these players from wotlk and cata thats why i brought up their arena skills or lack thereof.

The solution to that is to get your boys and fight them in the open world. WOODDEPARTMENT only gets so far because they target pushover retail players who turn tail and complain on the forums for trash additions like retail sharding.

I have ambivalent opinions on Dual Spec because of this. I DO NOT LIKE CHANGING SPECS OUTSIDE OF CLASS TRAINERS, but allowing raids that aren’t really PvPers to zone through BRM as PvP specs is a good way to encourage the guild v. guild PvP we all want to see.

Arena rating is irrelevant in vanilla PvP. If you’ve played that long you should know that.

I get youre probably illiterate but i addressed this above ans why its relevant talking to these players i know. I didnt say it had anything to do with vanilla. It speaks to their overall ability at the game.

Not reading that essay but this was a planned 300 vs 300 battle between horde and alliance. We’d like to have more.
