Fix for Repeat Instance Bug Exploit

The number of bans should correspond 1:1 with the number of people who used the exploit, with exceptions made only for people who didn’t loot anything and additionally filed a GM report, as they’re likely the only ones who did it on accident. Everyone else? Into the fire pit.

I have a real question about this…

Did this exploit also get around the 5 instances per hour rule or was this still limited in this way?

While I don’t personally know, the fact that it got around the 1 raid lockout per week makes me think the 5-per-hour limit was probably circumvented in this manner as well, although I could be wrong.

Yes, because the players never left the instance

Hold on, let me just destroy my phone rq.

Yup, if this was a private server, it would be officially the laughing stock. Blizzard has a chance to gain back some credibility, but I fear they are to blind to see just how damaging this is to their already failing image.

Millions of classic players and millions of retail players 15 years later. Yea, those poor babies.

This.

The instances/raids were technically never reset. The cheaters were just accessing a different layered instance each time they relayered the group, therefore not being limited to the 5 resets per hour.

OK let them clear again. But no loot. Sorry, but 2X loot for a single week raid lockout is corrupting. Also unfair, even if merely incidental.

So if people are layer hopping to kill more farmed mobs for crafting reagents … Devilsaur leather for example. Wouldnt this give them an advantage over other players who are not abusing the system? And thus should have “punitive measures” taken against them as well?

Says the one who openly admits playing private servers against TOS lol

What people don’t realize is vanilla was HARD CORE. I mean that with every letter of the words. My account got compromised, I had to buy my characters back with in game currency including giving blizzard mats from my enchanting and they wanted the large brilliant shards and the most expensive mats, meanwhile My account had no money at all so I had to make the gold in a very short time and get the mats. The punishment was real!!! And I did nothing wrong but if they thought you gave your password out back then, this was your consequence. But the truth was my ex boyfriend hacked into my email. (yes he was a pc nerd)

I had to choose between my two mains(hunter/lock) and I could not afford to buy them both with gold or mats So I got my lock back.

Anyway, my point is , why can’t these cheaters face the same harshness??? I mean seriously. That was a nightmare, I almost left the game, but BC came out a few months later and I just rolled horde on a new server.

No ban wave? I’m not continuing my sub. Theres been a lot of issues with this launch. And if this one especially isnt handled properly I’ll go back to not paying blizzard $30 a month.

any confirmation of any punishment other than the one post mentioned above on reddit?

Your little puny temp bans are pathetic. Should have been permanent.
“Oh you gamed the system because we were inept enough to leave LAYERING ON in an INSTANCE, ok, we’ll just make you sit out for a few months, come on back to all your gear/gold after your timeout”…

Well it won’t let me select my 32 hunter lol, but has there even been a widespread issuing of temp bans to be upset about?
