Mono cat dps is again at the bottom of the damage dealers
Due to cataclysm changes for all class buffs , in the current version of the game , there is no reason to invite a mono cat feral Druid in an optimized raid.
Most feral Druids are going back to the “bearweaving” meta which is quite frankly just bad class mechanics.
No need to bring back the glyph of clearcasting , just make the class fun and optimized without having to “bearweave” for optimal damage.
There’s no reason to have a class be mandatory overly complex contradicting the way it’s meant to be played (not in bear form )
It’s clear Bearweaving is not how they intend players to play the game
This is from when they introduced the CC glyph back in wrath .
And to be clear the class don’t need to get a buff ; we just need mono cat to be playable without losing optimal damage vs a bearweaving feral.

Greetings,
Within the next 24 hrs we will be making an adjustment via hotfix that will cause Omen of Clarity to always trigger when Faerie Fire (Feral) is used on non-player, non-pet targets. At the same time, Omen of Clarity will no longer proc from Gift of the Wild. This change is intended to smooth out Feral DPS gameplay for most players and resolve many of the social and gameplay challenges that were created by the so-called “Bearweaving” combat strategy. In many situations, Bearweaving not only increases the mechanical complexity of the class to a degree far above what was intended in original Wrath of the Lich King it also places a strain on the raid to keep up with the Druid’s added threat generation, with said impact continually increasing as the Druid become more adept at optimizing the rotation.”
Im mono cat for a 25m. Only reason i have slot is stampeding roar.
The sims have us doing absolute dog water dps. On top of it being the hardest rotation. Exp when we get to lvl 80 and lack crit and haste. Making combo generation hell.
For 99% of the player base, whatever you want to play, is what you should play. People love to pretend that everything is super strict like it is at the extreme top - end, but its not.
You can clear all the content comfortably with a Kitty Druid. You can clear all of the content easily with a Prot Warrior. You can clear all of the content comfortably with an MM Hunter. You can clear all of the content comfortably with a Holy Priest. You can clear all of the comfortably without a Blood DK. You can clear all of the content comfortably without a Disc Priest. You can clear all of the content comfortably without an Arms Warrior. You can clear all of the content comfortably without a Demo Warlock.
Like, during mythic progression on retail, I played a VDH when they were considered the worst tank. One of our best players was an Ele Shaman and our best Healer was a Mistweaver Monk. All three of these specs were considered subpar. But it didn’t matter, because we weren’t world first raiders.
Seriously I wish I could drive this into peoples skulls. Forcing yourself to play what’s optimal only matters when your trying to complete difficult content quickly while undergeared. This isn’t most players. This is a fraction of the top 1%.
I get it if you wish your spec did more DPS. I wouldn’t care if they threw something like Feral Kitty a small buff. If your unable to complete the content though, its not because of your spec. Its because of you or the players your playing with.
But no guild or optimized raid will invite a mono cat player , that just not the case with current culture , especially if you’re looking to do heroic content
Most classic players that raid consistently don’t care about normal raids
Therefore bringing a feral mono cat is like putting extra weight on a raid
You are being way too dramatic about this. Most of the player base outside of the top 5%-10% will bring the player, ofc they will look for the most optimized group but no one ever gets that except for the top set of raiders. People always have this doomer mentality about EVERYTHING when a new expansion drops. People will clear the raid with no issues with feral DPS. Ill come back to this post in a month to prove it.
When I progressed Mythic BoD (very difficult raid), my co - tank swapped from his Blood DK to a Feral Druid. He had wanted to move away from tanking, he was an excellent tank, but was just a DPS player at heart. He couldn’t until somebody in the guild we felt comfortable with was willing to take up that mantle. We did eventually have that happen, somebody’s Prot Pali set was up to par (mind you Prot Palis utility was great in BoD, but they were arguably the squishiest tank in the game).
So my co - tank swapped to Kitty and one of our DPS was now a Prot Paladin. Made the swap on the 2nd to last boss, as we wanted to keep Gorefiends for Mechatorque. We traded in a Shadow Priest (very strong) and a Blood DK (probably the sturdiest tank sans Brewmaster, which I was playing) for a Prot Paladin (utility was great in that raid but squishy) and a Feral DPS (might have been the least played spec in the game). And everything fell apart.
Just kidding we were fine and downed the boss. Our feral player (dude’s a BEAST he pumps on EVERYTHING he plays) did more than enough DPS and the Prot Pali, while the raid had to adjust to saving some externals for him, was ultimately fine because as a Brewmaster I didn’t ever need externals.
Oh and our healer priest played Holy on almost every fight because he preferred it, despite Disc offering far more (made him go Disc for a couple fights for Barrier).
You guys who think this way need to shake this mindset, you’ll enjoy the game far more. If you demonstrate that you can competently play a Feral Kitty at whatever level of raiding your aiming to do, than any sensible guild will take you.
Its actually a HUGE red flag when a guild says you can’t play something. That demonstrates a clear disconnect from how the game actually works. Obviously this doesn’t mean that occasionally, you could be asked on very specific fights to play something because of its utility (DK, Disc Priests and rSham for grips / raid CDs for example), but any guild that says you can’t play Feral that’s not playing at the absolute highest level is probably not worth your time.
TLDR: I’ve been in successful mythic progression guilds where people played suboptimal specs at a high level. This reality you believe you’re in simply does not exist.
That’s just not the case for Cataclysm classic or classic in general
Feral druids at the beggining of wrath classic were at the bottom of the charts both in details and in warcraft logs as mono cats and also as bearweaving.
This caused the feral population to be one of the smallest played class out of all the classes in the game, because why would you invite a feral player when any other class can outperform by pressing 2 buttons.
After the introduction of the glyph, ( and the death of bearweaving) , feral druids jumped to top 5 damage in phase 2 and 3 and took the throne on p4.
This caused the feral population to be average in comparison to most classes.
But here we are again, the glyph was taken out of the game on cata launch, and bearweaving meta is basically back, which will in return cause most players to end up rerolling.
Most players don’t enjoy playing one of the most complex classes in the game to end up being last or middle pack in damage.
And the reason for this is , why would you invite a mono cat feral cat when you could invite literally any other class and have that class do twice the damage by pressing 2 keys instead of following a very complex rotation to end up being low or middle of the pack in terms of damage done .
You guys should really be used to it by now. Druid for much of WoW has been a class I love the idea of but always avoided because it’s always the most unfun garbage meta playstyles that end up being the only viable choice. Power shifting, JOHN F***ING MADDEN, bearweaving, that stupid heal weave thing from talents in WoD, etc. It wasn’t until like Legion that you guys got an actual solid rotation without the gimmicks.
Yeah i mean the whole point is , druids mechanically don’t make sense.
They just need to make mechanical sense to make optimal damage in cat form without having to “leaveweave” or “bearweave”.
Make the class optimal in cat form , don’t need to make it top damage, just make it be fun without having to weave.
There’s a reason blizzard killed bearweaving in wrath, they never intended the class to be played as such
