Fix Blood Elf Casting Animations!

I really do not know to to put it into words but this silly and stupid little topic has been on my mind for a while. Those who play Blood Elf on both clients of the game and from way back then will hopefully know what I am talking about.

Ever since the update to casting animations way back in Legion, playing a caster, specifically male Blood Elves, has felt rather distasteful and unpleasant; at least in my opinion. It is mostly due to how dull and boring their modern animation is when casting a healing spell or buff like Flash Heal or Arcane Intellect.

Two videos I found for comparison. (Skip to 0:45 on both links):

For the most part, all the other races, including Female Blood Elf, had kept their original casting animations, with the addition of the ones given back in Legion and others receiving a touch-up to theirs (looking at you, Worgen). But for some reason Blizzard decided to do Male Blood Elves a disservice.

Maybe I’m in the minority, but I actually like that animation. I always have. Personally, I dislike that many of the caster animations are generic for everyone now. The flavor of picking a race for animations is all but gone. There’s only a few spells now that keep the racial unique casting animations. Makes me a little sad.

Fix female dwarf first. Then we can talk.

Nah they should delete elfs or move them to another faction of their own

I think all casting animations in this game are janky as hell. What’s more, they don’t even use their weapons. What a waste, seriously.

Fix void elves cant be paladins

LOL

I actually quite liked the male Blood Elf casting animations. It’s one of the things I miss after switching to Nightborne. Trust me… there are races that have it worse.

Yea. Not only that but if you ever spam arcane missiles as a female belf or velf, they just outright stop doing the animation and so your character just stands there with their hands down by their sides with arcane missiles spewing out of their stomach instead. SMH. Multi-dollar company btw.

I kinda like the whole holy book effect. Wish it was used in all their casting animations

Fix bras as tops or add swimsuits instead.

Male Blood Elf bow animation needs to be fixed. They aren’t holding the bow upright. Come on Elves are supposed to be good at archery.

I don’t have a problem with that animation. On the other hand I’d love to cast a portal without looking like I’ve experienced a spinal injury.

Exact opposite here. Theres so many class/race combos I’ll never play because I hate the unique casting animations for certain races and basically every class still uses them for their filler spells.

Yeah, everyone’s different. That’s fine. :slightly_smiling_face:

I hate boring homogenization where everyone is the same.

i found a good top

I don’t see how they are so terrible but okay.

Having my weapon to my side like they do in Guild Wars 2 would be pretty neat.

Personally I dislike the AoE animation of casting, used as a Paladin Flash of Light, both hands in air, I really dislike it with a passion.

The cast animation for Mark of Eluneth was a good cast animation with a weapon back during Legion.

I do wish they’d do more like that with our weapons instead of them just being there. Could also be a way to have some sort of animation to point the weapon to the target(s) to launch an arcane barrage for instance and raise it upward for explosion. They’ve done it there and it would be nice to see more like that.

Tbh, the old animations aren’t really much better in that aspect either. Pretty much any target spell uses the same target spell animation and vice versa with the omni spell. What’s used for flash of light is used for drain life, shadow bolt, fire ball and etc.

While i do agree the new animations are janky, it does add some variation to the animations. Especially since each spell caster class has it’s own post cast stance.

Melee animations are a bit hit/miss (heh) in terms of making a melee class feel unique from each other, with the exception of monk and DH animations.

But that’s just me. :man_shrugging:
