while trying to cast to fish when bobber lands in the water it promptly disappears
I’m going to assume it’s not disappearing because you happen to be a very lucky fisherpanda.
What kind of PC specs and graphic settings are you using? Maybe some settings need adjusted, GPU needs updated or maybe an addon is causing a conflict. Just in case it’s the latter I’d recommend doing this:

already done that still does not work dont use addons
Was there anything recently you changed? Only thing I can suggest at this point then is to either post on the Tech Support forums or file a Tech Support ticket. Not too sure what else would cause the vanishing bobber.
I’d recommend a bug report rather then technical.

There is already a large thread in the Bug Report forum that I posted last night. You should join that thread there. It seems to be a random bug in random zones.

When I first saw this reported in Bug Reports this morning I went and tested in on my Level 70 who has a fishing skill of DF 5. I had no issues fishing in pools in all 4 zones.
A few hours later someone else posted and also added that the dirt mounds are also not working, so, I went ahead and took that same alt and fished out of a Stargazer pool in Isle of Dorn and looted a dirt mound, zero issues with either.
I’m wondering who is on the Derby Quest while this is happening and who is not? I’m also using an addon “Better Fishing” with zero issues.
The bug happened to me while in Dorn just after using a Lure. I then went to Ringing Deeps and the bug was gone. Went back to Dorn, bug was gone. Try changing zones

I was not on the fishing derby quest when it happened to me. I happened to have one of my insomnia nights and decided to log on and do some mining just to pass time. I came across a rare fishing node and decided to fish. That’s when I discovered the bug, tested it on two characters in each zone. I had no problems fishing in other zones. Went back to Isle of Dorn and the bug was back.
But, now it looks like it’s bigger than just Isle of Dorn and people are also having problems in other zones. Seems completely random.

Yes, as I had zero issues fishing from pools, twice. Funny how they work!

It happened to me on 2 of my Gnomes trying to do the Fishing Daily quest in Ironforge. Flew out to a lake outside and fished and the bobber was there. Went back to IronForge and the bobber was there.
I must have reset something doing that. Never had that happen before.
Only happened on 2 of my Gnomes.
I was having an issue with the Disturbed soil nodes disappearing upon clicking, and players around me were invisible, but no issues at all with fishing pools at least. Logging out and back in fixed the soil problems.
I’ve noticed that when in Dorn, I’m constantly phasing to other layers every few minutes. I suspect that is a huge part of this issue.
I have reported these shenanigans and hopefully it’s fixed soon.
