First week thoughts for Holy and its future

I figured it out. If you immediately use a Surge of Light after a Heal it gives you 1 extra stack over the limit.

The heal absorb in Grim Batol is a bit obnoxious. You can get two of them at the same exact time so it’s close to 2mil. The last boss is a bit of a pain with all the mobility and if anyone gets aggro on the adds that spawn you get splattered.

Stone Vault was surprisingly very easy on a +6, but the bosses have a lot of mechanics to memorize.

I felt like I could help contribute to ccing mobs a bit more then before in DF due to the double Archon fear. Priests can clap the affix as well. Psychic Scream, Mass Dispel, and Dispel pretty much handle it.

Overall for a season this is FAR-FAR-FAR better then the start of SL S1 and DF S1. Outside of a few bosses and trash that might need some tweaking - the tuning is on par.

Also, with the whole season start last week: we got way ahead on gear then I realized. +6s only drop 606 which is the same as farming m0s last week + delves and upgrading with crests (which you got a ton of).

+7s and higher are the end goal right now because they drop 610 hero track loot. Your iLvl isn’t going to move up unless you spend crests and get loot from heroic + mythic.

This seems to be a lot different then previous seasons where you got a big iLvl boost from M+.

I see that the top holy priest is running archon. This makes me super happy. Glad you are liking it too!

I’m def not the “top” by any means. There’s plenty of Holy Priest at 2100+ IO already.

That’s fine. I’ve seen your build proposals and strategy ahead of / superior to all the guides online. So that makes you the best. Now we’re collectively trying to expedite this. Collaboration ftw!

I accidentally went into a Mists +8 as Oracle instead of Archon and god damn piety slaps when you gs yourself and just spam heals doing 1-2mil healing to each person in the group. It was my #2 heal and did 200mil in the dungeon.

I’ve been saying!

Lol, I remember posting this way back in beta and it took a while before Jak started doing it.

Oracle is better to play in certain dungeons with small pull sizes and not a lot of AOE damage going on like NW, Mists, and Siege imho. Stitchfest in NW hurts so I’m going to try a +7 with Oracle and running even Divine Hymn so I have 5 group heals.

A lot of the other dungeons have big pulls and a lot of group damage so you can pad on Halo more.

I’ve been running hymn now since it actually does stuff in dungeons again. Even getting a couple ticks off feels good not to mention healing increase on group and not getting it fully off isn’t really a downside since youre not locked out of casts and mana shouldn’t be an issue.

Just ran a couple of 2s to try out archon and I do like the just pushing the button but I just felt less capable of burst healing like I did with oracle, even though I really feel like a chimp playing oracle lol.

I can be accidentally cool at it it seems.

I got the Bursting Coagulum trinket and it’s actually pretty decent. It does 5-7 mil healing with a trade off of 1.2 healing so it’s really around 4.5-6 mil. If you pop it with Halo iit procs the trinket pretty fast in raid.

In M+ it will probably take a lot more work to make it trigger.

Yeah, I ran this trinket through a +8 and it did as much healing as Halo. Definitely a very strong healing trinket.

Has anyone tried that holy fire trinket? Probably more of a mid season thing, but looking fwd to seeing its output

I saw the coagulum in my vault and knew I had to have it. It reminded me of the seedling and hasn’t disappointed me. It works great with halo and fills it up so fast.

I grabbed the weakaura to help keep track of the healing it needs.

It’s hot garbage. The best dps trinket for healers is the one that lets you burst out 2-3 mil from the raid.

Yeah that’s the same thing I noticed…

I think between the higher item level we got from Delves, the free Heroic Crest and probably also dungeon tunning compared to the beta state, it’s been a lot smoother than I thought it would on the frist week.

I was expecting a slow climb the first week and would have to clear +3s or +5s to gear-up then move to +7s to gear-up more, specially if you were pugging and didn’t have a guild pushing deep into heroic the first week… Then I thought a +9 or +10 would be incredibly difficult to achieve on week 1 (like top 1-2% of players).

Well so far it’s being a lot better, already doing keys in the +7 and +8 regularly and few +9s, got a +10 done too… And that’s without that much gearing up I think I’ve gotten 1 piece of gear trought all that, also sitting with 0 tier pieces atm (could theoretically get 2 with catalyst and 2k reward but waiting to see what I get from raid).

+7/8s don’t even feel that oppressively hard. Some dungeons are just a bit more overtuned then others though.

It’s not until +10s that you really notice the difficulty jump because you’re getting both fortified and tyrannical at the same time. Then at +12s the trash gets +20% more hp/dmg to boot.

Oh yeah well I took Archon into a Timewalking lfg and only cried twice.

I haven’t had time to push yet - just been doing low keys and our server has had server troubles the past couple nights - but this is my experience too.

They absolutely tuned things down and also gave us better gear going into it - possibly from the reaction that everyone was having because it all seemed really hard in the beta.

I’ve started doing the Mythic raid and the amount of movement on the bosses is insane. It’s almost impossible to plant and use Lightweaver so I’ve been using Lightwell again.
