First week thoughts for Holy and its future

Ideally you want to use the M+ stat priority for healing with Lightweaver as it’s basically impossible to oom with it anyway.

It’s still possible to use the low haste build for Lightweaver, but it’s painful when you have to cancel casts to dodge mechanics.

It’s not a situation more haste would fix because you physically are moving without stopping for large stretches of these fights. I don’t think I’ve seen a raid tier with so much movement required.

Also, healing feels a lot better overall on Mythic. Overhealings around 20-25% and there’s entire sections where the raid spends 10-15s <100% hp so it’s less of a healing sniping game like in DF. Mechanics that are missed punish the raid with heavy, but survivable damage instead of one shots like we had before in Amidrassil.

There’s even 5 healer Mythic fights since were undergeared.

This sounds like a great change they made!! Healers can now be more rewarded with strong timely heals… heck… I might even use PI when I need it!

It really is though, even the difference between 10% and 15% haste is shaving 0.2s off Heal with LW buff, which can easily be either cancel your cast or die, or cast your Heal and barely dodge.

For M+ I’ve been bouncing around between Oracle and Archon depending on the dungeon. Oracle has some strong niches for certain dungeons.

With Siege you can use Insight to double cleanse dots at the end and Piety is very strong for countering Stitchfest’s aura in NW. For everything else I run Archon because I get more Holy Words and Halo is still good, especially when combo’d with the Creeping Coagulum.

With bigger keys I’ve been running Desperate Times instead of Epiphany because you can burst people to full hp in a couple of casts. The group gets smacked down to 10-20% hp by some of the trash/boss.

For healing cds I rotate between Halo/Piety, Divine Word, Apotheosis, Divine Image, etc. depending on what’s going on. I never use 2 at once unless crap is really hitting the fan. If you stagger your cds you always have one up for every boss mechanic in the dungeons.

You can drop Divine Word Sanctify or Serenity for one AOE set, Halo/Piety the next, Apotheosis the next, repeat.

+10s and higher are 100% do-able as Holy, but there’s a Resto Shaman meta going on atm so they’re the majority of the healers atm.

I managed to complete one 10 as holy. It took about an hour and a half and some points we double healed. I miss my vers + rageheart and honestly don’t know how holy is surviving these big hits and timing these 10+ keys.

Don’t forget with the new scaling system a 10 is the equivalent to a 20 from DF.

+10s are rough because they’re +13% more scaling off a +9 on-top of getting Fortified which is like the key level goes up another +2.

I failed 6 +10’s before I managed to start timing them. Some of these were 30 minute no leavers mainly to help guild mates. Biggest thing that bricks keys atm is tanks not being able to survive. Really needa be aggressive with Solace and GS.

I have been messing around with archon and the second boss in Dawn was sooooo rough. That is what we got stuck on. The pulsing aoe hits like a truck and me staying alive through every one was the biggest challenge I was having. I wish we had better defensives. That was the boss we switched to double healers.

I would only run a 10 with guildies so we were all on discord trouble shooting it.

(I don’t have any tier yet and am sitting at 608 ilvl. I am sure that played a part in the difficulty. That and it being a 10 first week and I am old :older_woman:t2:)

Some of the best times with guildies. That’s the way to play.

I 100% agree. Very thankful for the people I have met in the game.

With the 4 set, I can refresh a serenity in 6 casts.
with my gloves off (no 4 set), I have 4 seconds left with 6 casts. The 4 pieces is in fact resetting our words faster!
As far as proccing surge of light, i ran 140 cast test and got 15 procs, then stopped as I realized I would probably need 10k casts to get an accurate number for this. I would not be surprised if it is helping getting more procs, at a 35% effectivity, that is, with the 4 piece surge of light may proc 9.36% of the time rather than 8%, but I cannot tell and no longer care to try, lol.

I handle that boss by staggering Halo (Archon), Divine Word, and Apotheosis.

  • Initial big hit → use Halo and top the group off.
  • Pulsing AOE hit → use Divine Word Sanctify and top the group off while they stack together. Make sure to Fade defensive and keep Protective Light up with Flash Heal.

Halo should be up for the next big hit, but if its not use Apotheosis if your Holy Words are down. Halo or Divine Word should be up for the next AOE pulse.

Pretty much just stagger and rotate your 3 healing cds and you can manage it.

I did that but that last tick would often get me. I also threw in desperate prayer on the second one (hero saw us through the first), and was able to symbol it back I think for the 3rd, maybe the fourth. It is a blur. Each one got a CD but it wasn’t enough to keep me alive single healing. Fade was always used and protective light you really don’t even have to try for.

Believe me, all of the combos were tried over multiple pulls. Your groups are a bit beefier than the one I was with and it makes it easier for you to simply write this and say that it can be managed by doing abc.

Our group was 600-610 with no tier and my trinkets weren’t that great(adventurer crystal from dawn and champ flute lol, because I couldn’t get a trinket to save my life). This week will be better.
