First silence is 7 days?

I dont understand what I said was so abusive toward an individual to receive a 7 day silence for my first offense? If it was was for my AV yell macro then what is so bad about yelling strategy out while running to objectives?

I’ve been reading first time silence is 24hrs not 7 but im sitting here with 3, almost 4, days of my appeal sitting in limbo on a 7 day silence. Meanwhile LFG chat is the weirdest bag of nope i dont want to read night after night, with the same people.

If you have ever been actioned for anything on your account, it leaves a black mark on your account record, and those marks do not fall off. They cause the next infraction to be harsher than what you want so as to deter the behavior that you did that caused it in the first place. Just to note, if you got a 7 day silence, the next infraction is minimum of 7 days suspension from the game.

It is likely not your first silence. It may be the first one you noticed, but if you are at a 7 day silence, it means your account has been actioned before. You can check past emails from Blizzard.

I have, this is the only one in my email.

Edit, i did that before posting this.

There are no Support Forum Agents around at this hour to confirm it, but the penalty system does not randomly jump to a 7 day silence without prior account actions.

i have emails from blizz going all the way back to 2016 and this is the only account action i have a record of

Previous account action emails may have gone into your spam/junk folder and possibly deleted automatically by your email provider.

Regardless of the emails, the penalty system does not just jump up to a 7 day silence on whim.

When a Support Forum Agent is around, and if they decide to address your concern, just be prepared to have all the dirty laundry aired and verified, as that is what tends to happen.

The only way this started as a a first time penalty with a 7 day silence is if it was fairly egregious in nature. Just note that any further penalties will get bigger and bigger and the next would be a suspension of at least 7 days.

i didnt start playing retail until Draenor was about to come out, and nothings in junk. Ill air my own laundry lmao, calling the AV group effing idiots and dumb dumbs for acting like idiots and dumb dumbs when it comes to strategy.

Not necessarily, I remember when I received my first big kid punishment and it was a 7 day silence. Keep in mind, I had a couple warnings on my account, but warnings don’t count they’re just constant reminders.

A warning counts as an account action and an escalation to a higher level penalty can be based off prior warnings. I would say that your post is case-in-point.

Yeah, but your first big punishment is usually something minor which is 7 days, it used to be one day I’m pretty sure but they changed it.

from what you posted when you “aired your dirty laundry”, you know exactly what was so abusive.
something doesn’t need to be aimed at an individual in order to be considered abuse.

Profanity, even masked is against the rules as is name calling as it is considered very toxic. Put both together, and it is more egregious than merely dropping a curse word once or calling someone a name once. Also, you don’t get to call the shots in the battlegrounds. Those are for teams and you go with the strategy that the majority of your team wants to follow.

i see people saying waaay worse things but are some how are still able to chat all the time no problem. But yea, 7 day silence, its waay out of line for duration. i read the social contract, it wasnt directed at any one.

which section states that language is OK as long as it isn’t directed at a specific player?

Because you didn’t report them. Blizzard is reactionary. It takes a report.

If I had to guess, I’d say nobody else wanted to hear it.

I’d also be willing to bet a fair amount of gold this isn’t your first offense. Maybe a friendly SFA will be able to refresh your memory when they come on duty.

When the Silence system rolled out in 2016 the first penalty was a 24 hour Silence and then it doubled each time after that. About 6 or 8 months ago they changed the penalty policies because Silences were not having the intended impact to curb behavior.

I think it now starts with a 7 day Silence and the next step is a Suspension. I can’t prove that because I don’t work there, but looking at the posts on this forum that is what I see people talking about when they get a penalty lately.

Yeah, you got reported for that and it does break the rules. We can’t use profanity, masked profanity, insults/slurs, etc.

Just because other people also say bad things does not give anyone a pass. If you get reported the GMs just review the logs that are attached to the report and it is a pretty simple black and white evaluation. Either the language breaks the rules or it does not. I would not expect a GM to overturn this given you admitted to saying things that are not ok in game.

Keep in mind, next is a Suspension so maybe don’t do that anymore.

It can be, yes.

While yes - you did indeed say what you’ve quoted yourself here as - that was FAR from all that was said.

You seem to favor F bombs - both in plaintext and as acronyms, both violate our chat policies.

I’m also seeing some quite spicy lines both in General - and private tells that were reported.

While you are welcome to keep this open, I’ve fairly confident this one is not going to be overturned.

As others have already mentioned, you need to be aware that subsequent penalties do stack - and escalate both in duration, and nature of action.
