First round of Blizzcon tickets today!

Hey guys, if you want to get Blizcon tickets, the first round is today.

Hopefully you’ve already gotten your accounts setup, etc., but if not - you have a little under 4 hours to do so :stuck_out_tongue:

AXS is a new vendor for us, so if you don’t have an account setup, I’d strongly recommend doing so now.

Good luck! May the 4th be with you!

Sorry, that spyware app is a total dealbreaker. So, no.

I am getting rather annoyed by this narrative, as the FAQ clearly states that the app is not required when you get to the convention.

Link please.

The only thing I’ve read is that if your device is dead or you have an issue using the app you can head to the Solutions Desk for help.

I highly doubt they will be capable of handling a majority of Blizzcon attendees using them to get into Blizzcon, nor does heading there definitively mean you won’t need the app to get in.

The solution at the desk could very well be just helping you get the app working and/or chargers to get your phone on so you can use your app.

If it says otherwise in the FAQ I’d like to see it as I haven’t been able to find it.

Not getting tickets this year. Not even Virtual ones. Why? Because I am not happy with what they offer. I can spend my money better elsewhere. Thanks.

It’s not Spyware stop spreading FUD. You people are simply looking for anything to complain about. I blame people that don’t understand how apps and phone permissions work for this. They hear a well meaning caution and take it to mean that any app that needs permission to certain things automatically means it’s trying to access their private information. Just stop.

This exactly. I would like to see blue response to how people will be handled who do not want to use the app. I contacted AXS and was told by THEM that the app was not necessary. So the question is only: “Is Blizzard making the app necessary?

Our “5 Things you need to know before you buy a BlizzCon pass” blog provided this information ahead of ticket sales and is as much as we’re able to provide in terms of an answer to your question -

You’ll Need the AXS Mobile App to Get Into the Show

To pick up your badge at registration this year, you’ll need to download the AXS Mobile App. The app displays a QR code (one code for all of your tickets), which changes at regular intervals to help guard against dupes and fraud. Because of that, we won’t be able to accept paper tickets, confirmation emails, or screenshots/photos of the QR code at BlizzCon registration.

After you buy your tickets, you should receive an email from AXS with instructions on how to download the app, or you can download it at any time for iPhone and Android.

If for some reason you find yourself at the show with a dead mobile device or some other unexpected issue preventing you from accessing the app, don’t worry. Just head to the Solutions Desk at registration and they’ll help you out.

Edit: I should clarify that I did see the last sentence from this section already called out. However, I wanted to make sure and point out that this is the official response to the questions “Do I have to use the app” and “How can I get in if I have a problem with the app”.

Thank you for the clarification. GD desperately needs to see this.

Just to clear up some (IMHO) unaddressed confusion here.

AXS offers both what they call e-tickets and Flash mobile tickets.

e-tickets work exactly like your normal ticket you buy online for an event - they send you an email with your ticket attached to the email along with your receipt. Your ticket can then be printed out and taken along to the event as per usual.

Flash mobile tickets however have a QR code that automatically randomly generated every 60 seconds or so. This is why the app is needed. To be able to generate the QR code you need something to generate the code on it. You can’t do that with a printed out ticket as then the QR code would be invalid the instat it was attached to the emai.

It’s most likely that the rep thought you meant “e-ticket” as in AXS’s definition of an e-ticket and not a Flash mobile ticket which appears to be the type of ticket being used for Blizzcon 2019.

I wanted to ask a clarification question(s): What do I do if I don’t own a smart phone? I’m not allowed to attend Blizzcon or is there a process that I can do?

Do you order a ticket?
Kalviery kinda answered that.

The quote talks about either a dead phone or an unexpected issue. This is neither (it certainaly isn’t unexpected and isn’t about a dead phone…just a non smart phone). I’ve not attended blizzcon before, so I wouldn’t even know what to bring for minimum ID if a non phone solution is available. Should I just show up at the desk not knowing what I need or if I can even actually enter?

Perhaps ask here?

In reality though, it’s the same. The solutions desk is available for people who are having trouble with their tickets. This has been the case for all BlizzCons and it will mean additional time needed during the badge pick-up process. The fastest way through pick-up will be to utilize the standard method for pick-up if at all possible.

Thanks Thundertotem. We’re also answering questions there and it’s probably the best place for these discussions overall.
