I have been playing Blizzard games for over 15 years now with not so much as even a warning on any game. While i know this post will be roasted by “my first murder”, let us be real, holding down the space bar button is far from murder and the penalty should reflect it.
During my weeks of playing diablo immortal i probably spent upwards of 6 hours a day and spent about $2,000 in tokens and USD. (Absurd upfront amount invested because as a father this is a game i could actually enjoy on mobile and not be locked to the PC)
To not even give a player the opportunity to return ever with so much time and money invested and to only received copy/paste responses on appeals is devastating and is especially hard with a game like Diablo Immortal which is beyond crazy microtransactions.
Has anyone else experienced a first offense perma ban? Have you been able to get it reduced? I see everywhere that even for botting and blatant sexism/racism people are receiving lighter sentences than this.
As you left out what you were accused of doing, players here can’t really give you any insight into penalties, although that is none of our business anyway. If you’re talking about Diablo, you should post in the Diablo forums because this is the WoW Forum, but if I am not mistaken the appeals process works the same.
I assume this is a Diablo term? I am not sure what this statement means.
How much you may have spent is irrelevant. The rules apply the same to everyone.
I’m not sure what the process is for Diablo Immortal, but this forum is for world of warcraft.
These are standard template responses, and they are used to ensure that everyone who gets a response is given the same information.
Yes, it is very possible to be banned permanently for a first offense.
Some people have reported that, but those situations are likely different from yours. The way a ban is reduced is through the appeals process, and if they did not reduce the penalty, then that is your answer.
I can find websites that will try to convince you the earth is flat. Take what you read “everywhere” with a grain of salt.
Yes, I get that money spent shouldn’t play a major factor but it should assist in providing a FAIR punishment.
The sources of the 6 month bans are customer service post - Google “6 month ban for botting” and this was far from botting it was basically holding the A button down on an xbox controller… which again if its against TOS so be it but how is this permanent level behavior?
I’m not entirely certain what Diablo Immortal has to do with World of Warcraft, not that the forums is an appropriate place to discuss any account actions. That said, the penalty applied to an account usually depends on what the violation is and the history on the account. While historically we do try to give folks second chances, there are situations in which the first offense, may also considered the last one.
I am sorry if you felt the response you received was dismissive or just copy/paste. Our staff has templates that they use for these kinds of situations to help keep messaging clear and consistent.
I’m not intimately familiar with Diablo Immortal policies but generally speaking, just holding down a key isn’t considered a violation. Usually it would be for using some means to autoattack that you couldn’t do through normal means (i.e. botting programs, mechanical means outside of the device, special keyboard settings, etc…).
I’m sorry, Imsteve, but we are not able to assist here. The best I can do is refer you back to the appeals process. If you truly did nothing to warrant an account closure, hopefully they can verify that.
As this isn’t the appropriate place to discuss account actions I will need to close this. Good luck to you.
Edit:
Generally speaking, Free to Play games, which is what Diablo Immortal is, have more strict penalties because they have such a low bar for entry.
