First Bellular now Asmon

Ironically in WoW if you make a post about it here or anywhere else you’ll be trolled twice for “crying about it”.

But you guys are all about your culture of grievance. Your whole shtick is hating other people who play the game, and talking about how they’re all out to get you and ruin your fun.

You’ve never, at any point, enjoyed WoW nearly as much as you’ve enjoyed hating other people who play WoW. And that’s never going to change.

It’s why you see so many responses of “Please just leave” and “You’re finally leaving? Hooray!” to the people who just constantly complain. Everyone’s tired of it. Just go.

Its makes them, at this second, more money hating on WoW. Huge nuance.

Like i said, they’ll be back licking their boots the day 9.1 releases. Bookmark this.

Eh, not really. I don’t care for streamers in general however, I made an exception for dark souls streams because I love watching people suffer in their first playthroughs of the game dying again and again…he hasn’t done the promised no death run in ds1(I want to watch him fail and rage), and he never streamed DS2. Wanted to watch him die horribly in that 1 too lol.

Admittedly, Asmongold carries the WoW livestream viewership pretty hard these days. Like him or not, his stream introduces a lot of people to World of Warcraft and more players, overall, is good for the community (in b4 wE DoN’t WAnt PEopLe wHo WaTcH HiM tHeY’re TOXiC).

Likely, he won’t play through all of the FFXIV story and will likely meme about how much worse their cash shop is or something. He’ll get content for a week, and move on.

It’s not much to think about. It’s not a huge blow to WoW if a content creator chooses to do some content related to something else. And the people who hate on Asmongold are just as bad as the ones who use him as a litmus test for the state of World of Warcraft.

how do you even die in ds1? just go full giantdad and nothing can kill you. ever.

I don’t believe, for a moment, that somebody’s WoW stream introduces people to WoW.

Everyone knows about WoW. And not because of somebody’s stream.

I mean, you don’t need to be “original” in finding some obscure game to play as a streamer. People will watch you if one or several of some checkboxes are ticked:

  1. Is the game you’re playing new?
  2. Do you provide valuable opinions or actual contributions to the community of the game you play?
  3. Are you fun/interesting/engaging to watch?
  4. Do you understand your audience and engage with viewers?
  5. Are you skilled or experienced to a notable degree?

A streamer isn’t really someone looking to reinvent the wheel most of the time. They’re following trends for viewership, because sustainable viewership is money resulting from time and effort. (Usually.)

I disagree – WoW usually sits in top 15 without Asmongold online. When Asmongold comes on, the WoW viewership will peak to top 10 near top 5.

Its like when LoL with Tyler1. LoL will hover lower top 5 but when T1 comes on – LoL will be number 2 or number 3.

To be fair its not even new, entire Radio and T.V careers were built on this. Hell it probably goes back to the beginning of printed press. Its a very old playbook.

Most definitely.

  1. Be a new player
  2. Get greedy and go for a finisher - regret it

A large sum of his audience don’t play the game, or start because of him. One of the most frequent things to see while he’s talking about WoW is: “I’ve never actually played, I just like watching him”.

Everyone knows about WoW, but the way he presents it is simple and palatable to a regular joe schmo.

I think 1 person’s ability to move a game up 2-3 places in viewership overall is pretty significant since the differences are usually pretty large.

Isn’t he all about mount contests and harry potter hats in classic, though?

That’s not the experience people will have in the game. If it does get somebody to play WoW, they’re just going to quit soon after.

EDIT: Oh my god. Maybe that’s where all the people who never do anything in-game, but always complain on the forums there’s nothing to do, came from? That thought had never occurred to me. They expect some digital emcee to run contests on their server, and it never happens, and that makes them angry.

Yeah, I’ve never like Asmon and Bellular’s nonsense is getting old. Bell can go and I’m fine with that.

He’s been hating on WoW for the better part of 3 years now and I’m just sick of his videos.

I would agree – but I would not say that makes him the big reason why WoW has viewership either. Top 15 still is a good amount of viewers.

Either way, 3 months from now and this whole thing will be completely forgotten with little to no aftermath.

Its not like Asmongold had a relationship with Blizzard, he literally built himself crapping all over them. He has never been employed by them for anything for a reason.

Preach is reasonable enough and will probably keep ties.

Bellular most likely burnt some bridges, which is a questionable move from him for sure considering his other ventures are seemingly going nowhere in the near future.

Its a risky business they’re in, specially when only one of them has the personality to pull the “permanently pissed off” thing.

I keep thinking back to Valheim.

Remember Valheim? It was all the rage here 3 months ago. WoW-killer!

It wasn’t lol. Was like a thing for a couple weeks and people stopped.

As is the case for many games that don’t release new content regularly. Kind of like WoW
