Fired by facebook is a thing?

well I am not talking about this particular post.

I am talking in general. This thread has simply provided a discussion for that. I am stating my views on things that I have been seeing especially over the past few months.

The particular executive this thread was started over I don’t care about. It is all the other employees out there that have been fired for posting their beliefs on their personal social media.

even still the executive should not be fired even for a very deplorable opinion so long as it is not done at work. I don’t agree with what he has to say but I would fight and give my life to defend his right to say it without consequences.

This is a popularity fallacy.
“An unknown amount of people believe this so that means this thing is that!”.

Did you, or did you not try to argue a symbol of the confederacy, which is steeped in racism and slavery, was not a symbol of the confederacy? Again, your intent my not have been to mount such a defense, but you did do so.
What we intend to do, and our actions, are not always the same.

Being in denial is not a good thing.

Simple, because people would take words for what they are, rather than adding meaning to them for the sake of being offended, like you did.
Particularly after acknowledging your intent.
No one called you anything, you entirely did it to yourself, as always.

I do, and it was warranted for him to be fired and the smart business decision as well.

It’s safer to post cat memes

Nowadays there is no winning in the political/social debate, only losing

I would say it is best to approach it on a case by case situation. There are certainly times where businesses have acted inappropriately by firing someone for a political belief. There are also times where an individual has said something inappropriately and it been proper to fire them.

It’s still really bizarre that so many of you are defending the decision. “Gotta be careful what you say on social media, of course it’s grounds for being fired cause you represent the company.”

Saying that doing drugs and breaking the law will lead to negative outcomes in life should not be something anyone loses their job over, period. That’s NOT representing a company negatively. It’s not a controversial stance or a political statement. It’s a fact, whether it ends up being a run-in with the law, or dealing with more hardcore criminals.

There is no justifying this specific incident, and dude should not have lost his job.

Social media is something best avoided these days. If not it is best to just use it to communicate with friends.

True lol then again the other day I got attacked over a thing i made from castlevania <I cant say what here but let’s say I like BDSM and some tried to say it was sexist lol when I made it to suit myself on being “choked” lol

This is where I believe many on the left get comment like this wrong.

IMHO:
What he said if you live a life like this, the end result is you COULD die like this and you “the person doing the actions” should not be surprised if it happens to you.

It DOES NOT mean George Floyd deserved to die with a man kneeling on his neck for over 8 minutes.

EVERYONE was outraged at how Mr. Foyd died. I saw very NO people cheering his death - just people saying if you live a bad lifestyle this might happen to you. People have tried to make this a political issue by claiming one side DID say Mr. Floyd should have died - and its just no true.

OK, so you’ve never seen an Antifa video with them stomping on and burning the American flag? That’s probable NEVER happened, right? The Anarchists would NEVER do that.

You saying I did that, doesn’t mean I did that. Again, you started half way through the conversation, and then made it up as you went along. Falling asleep a few times along the way.

So, you have no idea what I’m talking about, that’s all you needed to say.

What did he say? The tweet was complex, and you seem so smart, so, so smart. Could you please explain to me what was wrong with it? You paragon of justice and virtue, you.

Know what’s funny I posted a image of a white kitty as avatar aang and a black kitty as fire lord … fighting and it got flagged and called racist lol

There are some zealot nut jobs out there online believe me

Collectivism is an ugly thing. It’s to bad more and more people are embracing it.

Which is ludicrous as anyone that has watched avatar the last airbender knows.

They’re in a cult.

I am a conservative
Can we not make the assumption of someone’s political belief from a non-political matter?

The post he put up was listing the criminal history of George Floyd and stating he was an unwarranted martyr by the left and probably going to hit a pregnant woman.
He also stated “A life style that NEVER ends well.”, when often times such individuals are victims of circumstances and there are cases of individuals who overcome such a history.

That was why he was fired.
There simply was no means to interpret it in a way that gave wiggle room.

Yep lol I still idk how they saw it as anything other than that lol

Social media, the only winning move is to not play the game

That is still a popularity fallacy.
“A group of people say this, so the symbol has changed entirely!”.

You literally did that bud. Arguing a symbol of racism has changed to not be a symbol of racism is indeed trying to defend said symbol.

You complain that I know you better than you do, and yet you attempt to do the same here.
That is hypocritical of you.

He also resigned fyi, very wise on his part.
Stay mad though Kitt. It certainly undermines your attempt to be appear logical when you are not.

The man was a drug addict and repeat offender, with a history of violent crime. Stating that that isn’t a great way to live isn’t exactly earthshaking news to anyone.

That part wasn’t the issue.
