Not too harsh nerfs, can do.
One good thing is that all the Fire Mage whiners can now finally rest in peace and stop flooding the forums.
I know that some people would want more nerfs for Fire Mage, but at least they can’t say “our specs / comps were nerfed and Fire Mages weren’t” anymore. So, if they want more nerfs to Fire, there would also need to be more nerfs for specs of other overperforming comps.
Now, time to move the nerf trend to Necrolord DHs with their damage and survivability, burst of Arms Warrior / Ret / WW ( especially when their double legendary and tier set is acquired), double CC immunity trinket + Convoke interaction, making it much harder to counter in PVP and Feral in general.
Also, now that Combustion is longer CD, please take a look at Roar of Sacrifice or its CD. Giving Hunters an ability to completely counter Fire Mage’s Combustion, which now has less CD than the Combustion itself is overkill. Hunters can also make it much harder to counter for Mage by taking undead / mechanical pets to make them immune to Polymorph and just stay away from their pet to reduce effectiveness of Ring of Frost - if you use Dragon’s Breath + Ring of Frost on the hunter, pet is not affected and is ready to use Roar and you have no other way to CC him, if you DB the pet and try to RoF him to CC, Hunter is not CCed and will just interrupt or Freezing Trap you.
Were the offensive nerfs to Fire necessary? I would have preferred a second survivability nerf. I think RMP should have some of the best setups in the game, but be heavily punished for mistakes that cause them to lose momentum and control.
I’m sad to see no Holy Priest nerfs. Their kit is just kind of braindead. The best suggestions I’ve read are to nerf Chastise’s range to 20 yds (and maybe revisit this ability later) and Holy Ward’s duration to 10 sec.
As for rogues…
- If the conduit is the problem, how do you think it should be changed?
- Duel adds a lot of flavor to Sub. Maybe nerf its duration by 1 sec, but it would be a mistake to remove it for balance purposes. In another thread I read someone suggest deleting the Ret PvP talent Aura of Reckoning - why would you delete a talent that makes a spec more fun to play? Will we delete everything until nothing fun is left?
- Suggestions to increase Kidney’s cooldown or Kick’s duration are really stupid. These are a big part of what makes a rogue a rogue. Some people only see balance and have no respect for what makes classes unique and interesting.
That’s my take, anyway. On a brighter note, it’s always nice to see the devs communicating and trying to stay on top of PvP.
They just nerfed Tempest Barrier which hurts us more than it hurts Fire so apparently we’re not allowed to play the game.

I wonder if it’s a bit premature to be making damage nerfs before double legendaries and set bonuses are available.
Enhance healing nerfs make sense at any time though.
These nerfs are a good start. Can we remove all the new awful cc trinkets you guys added this patch now? They’re awful for the game and feel awful to deal with.
I think other comps have been hit far harder in the direction of what really made their comps super difficult to deal with
Most of RM or even fire mage issues aren’t really solved with this. Other comps that got nerfed definitely hit the exact things that were miserable for the most part, Kyrian Druid legendary nerfs, Warrior Intervene nerfs from earlier on are some straightforward examples
Dnno, lot of other problem mage conduits and mages will still be very tanky with these changes, the defensive nerfs to cleaves that also were reasonable have been far more effective than any mage one.
Anyways Hpriest chastise range/holy ward still super oppressive too which makes RMP hard to counterplay to begin with
Always enhance as soon as we get some love BAM nerfed always !!! same classes same specs always have and will be on top. Don’t want to upset our rogues’ warriors or DH’s lets them shine another season. Most played specs get the love. So the only comp we can play is still the only comp we can play. What I mean is that some (not all though) other specs received nerfs that are about of the same relation to their actual problems as Fire Mage did.
Ret WoG nerfed by 10%, when his major problem is his burst, even more so when 2 leggos become available.
Warrior DefStance nerfed by 10%, but it is his MS / Execute damage (especially with double leggo), Ignore Pain and Die by the Sword conduit who are outliers. Moreover, if they won’t sit in DefStance as earlier, they will be less tanky, yes, but they also will deal 10% more damage and can just spec Bounding Stride instead to get even more mobility. Though what I do agree with is that DefSt should have been nerfed to 10/10 instead of current 10/20, which make it more harmful than useful.
BM Hunters did not get any nerfs at all.
Necrolord DH did not get any nerfs at all.
Some representatives of these specs wrote “my spec is nerfed, now nerf also Mages and other classes”. Well, now Mages got nerfed as well, so they can’t use this argument anymore. If they want to nerf Mages in other problematic aspects, their specs would need to be nerfed in their own problematic aspects as well.
Didn’t they just nerf Avenging Wrath by 33%?
