The flame staff is what grants the fire kitty. It wasn’t locked behind gated content or mythic only. It was quite easily obtained, even in 2011.
The OP thinks that the seed pouch (which was added years after the release of firelands) is somehow more prestigious than the original staff? Please.
Firelands was released NINE YEARS AGO! It takes very minimal effort to clear. Getting the seed pouch has absolutely nothing to do with skill and is 100% luck based. You could walk inside completely naked and moonfire everything if you wanted to and still succeed.

Yes. 100% without a doubt.
When the seed pouch was introduced in 6.1, Firelands was already 4 years old.
People are already Soloing raids from BFA,… last year.
Like… why is this even a question?
Yes it was easily cleared, and it was much more gold to clear, like 5000g+. You could fund a wow token just from farming the place on a couple toons.
Edit: They actually nerfed the gold drop in firelands because of people farming it in WoD.

Not saying it wasn’t solo able, just more could you do it naked with moonfire alone? The power creeps and gaps in xpac to xpac for sure make it more and more of a breeze.
But its first introduction could one simply walk into Mordor err Firelands and farm it naked moonfire style?

I can’t remember that far back but when I saw the toy coming out I had an army of Druids and farmed it, staff was there seeds too but nothing like a toy that is forever.
Same as an unlock if it ever makes it to the barber shop, really I don’t see it being on the barber as the toy would the be obsolete.

Why? With the toy, you can choose a legion form as your default, and still have fire kitty for when youre feelin hot.

This is the whole point of the toy as is now? Only thing barber shop does is allow us to pick the weapons we want to use and not default those daggers.
Also any spec can use the firecat if you have the toy that is 
As far as I understand, the new barber shop will allow you to pick any form you’ve unlocked and use it as your default skin., regardless of spec or weapon equipped.
Meaning resto/balance druids can use legion forms

Balance Druid goes bear form but looks like the Mage Tower skin, when there is already a Resto Druid now going bear form doing the same thing? Who do you target ? But wait now they both just went blue glow kitty and swaped into fire cat using the toy… .oh the madness.

Addons call out class/spec before match.
Sure you know what you playing against but you loose it in the eye test.
Outside of addons and targeting macros.

Well its pick the form you want as it they are no longer tied to the weapon(s).
Thus allow you to pick w.e weapon you wanted, I kinda said it backwards so that’s my fault.

I feel like someone brought this up before, hmmm…
I agree as i am in the same boat as well. Completely missed the Mage Tower as i stopped playing a bit before it unlocked.
I am however not a fan of unlocks tied to a window of time. If Blizzard stopped window of time unlocks from here on out, that’s good enough for me.
I think is actually the primary driving problem of why people really want the mage tower forms, more so than people want exclusive time locked mounts or transmogs.
I wanted a tabard for my Warrior and found out it was locked to a rep gain that I cannot do anymore. It wasn’t a big deal though cause I have many options for tabards. Although, tabards are still more limited than some things.
But the Druid forms are very limited. Losing one of them feels really bad.
Druid needs more form customization. None more desperately than Moonkin which is practically ignored.
