So. I heard here the tsunami of complaints about how the “Diapergnomes” are terrible, and how their armor restraints are really making them not attractive and I was like “Nah, it’s silly. They have amazing robot parts and nice hairstyles. I want one.”. And so I did, got myself to grind Rustbolt to exalted… Unlocked and created a Warlock…
Ugh. With less than twenty minutes browsing the appearance tab, I cannot find a good transmog because of the arms and legs! Really. Not even gloves! I take back my initial sentiment about this… Not having any of these slots is really bad visually.
But what’s a propostal for a solution then?
While I don’t think allowing them to use regular gnome arms and legs would be the best option, since they would become just… gnomes with fancy hair, my proposal is that Blizzard would release a THIRD option for arms and legs.
One that uses the 3D “silhouette” of a regular gnome limb, BUT it is textured with metal, bolts, etc, and animated like a robotic arm. With this option the Mechagnomes could choose to display legs and arm gear normally without compromising the whole robotic feel.
If mechagnomes stand as they are, Blizzard would need to add at least 3x more options for legs and arms that aren’t just recolors, to make up for the lack of 3 item slots.
In short: Now that I saw with my own eyes ingame, I can understand the frustration of the players invested in this robotic race.

I get what you’re saying a sort of Jax like look from Mortal Kombat type limb. Robotic and metallic but it looks more like an arm in terms of its shape. Not like an erector set lol. And therefore could be “moggable”.
That said I feel for mechagnome players it’s TERRIBLE. You basically just get to wear a shirt. Sucks. I get that at blizzard they probably just wanted to showcase what made mechagnomes so unique with their cool bionic parts but the mog issue is awful.
Hope they fix it for you guys.
There is an entire community now dedicated to creating interesting and unique Mechagnome transmogs. Check out their Discord, sometimes all you need is a fresh perspective!

Yeah… I would probably keep the legs as they are, and arms using the “Jax” option, because I really like sleeves and gloves.
Sad though, mechagnome players will probably have to wait until later stages of Shadowlands, as the ARs are not priority now, it seems.
You can put lipstick on a pig too but she ain’t winning no beauty pageants.

Its basically heritage armor or bust, everything else looks terrible personally.
My idea: Add mechagnome exclusive transmog pieces that can be crafted using Engineering in the future.

You’ve clearly never been to a beauty pageant before. (giggle)
Can you point me towards them? I would like to see what is possible, because, at least as a cloth user, the situation is not far from a bus crash.
You’re confusing beauty pageant with the farmers market my elven friend.
This is the solution. If Blizzard is gonna make a robotic allied race that can’t use normal armor, then they need to add more armor exclusively for that race.

You can hid the legs w/ robes until such time as you unlock their heritage set.
yeah, ive only seen 1 or 2 good sets on them besides the heritage, i think exacitator (probably butchered that) does it well.
U might just want to suck it up till you get the heritage, theyre nearly always terrible until then
Sure! I’m not at home at the moment, so I’ll make sure to provide a link once I am. The biggest trick I’ve seen is making sure you use the most appropriate metal colour to match your transmogs.
I recall an absolutely fantastic Dragon Soul transmog that was completely on point.
I would get behind this if it’s nicely implemented.
To be honest currenly Alliance has the short end of the stick with the AR situation… not because we didn’t get what we wanted, but because what we got is lacking in the quality department if you compare to the other side.
BAHAHAHA Oh god I love Mechangomes but I agree they should really let them mog every limb
My issue is that the heritage set is not… exactly diverse It also only matches one of the plating colors.
I feel like a large part of the mechagon quests was the rustbolt resistance saying stuff like “all upgrades should be a gnomes choice” so why is blizzard forcing mechagnomes to have fully robotic legs and arms. would be fine to have one robo-arm, or like a singular robotic peg leg, they have potential to be less…terrible, but i guess blizz isnt with that.

I personally like Mechagnome design, but I feel the easiest way to solve this issue is to just leave hands and feet as unmoggable instead the entire arms and legs. Would definitely give more transmog options.
