There’s options to hide armor if someone wants to show off the robot limbs, I don’t think it should be forced.
I saw one mechagnome mog on Reddit that made him look like a cool steampunk alchemist with dark robes, a top hat, handlebar mustache, and the goggle eye augmentation.
Mechagnomes really only have leeway with cloth classes and robe mogs, other wise they’re stuck with wearing the heritage or wearing panties.
Nightborn and High Mountain Tauren would like to have a word with you.
Ah-ha! I found a quick link from the WoW forums that will take you to the Mechagnome Discord;
Gnomest is a fierce and friendly proponent of all things Gnome.
the heritage armor makes them look a lot better buuuuuut you have to level 110 levels looking less-than-stellar. I dont like that I have to visit a BARBER in order to change the color of the mechanical limbs (which makes xmog on-the-fly rather craptacular). having to change the limbs with every other xmog is very inconvenient
It’s a bit subjective IMO.
- Glowgoats are similarly boring to moosecows
- Void elves despite their questionable lore are several times better executed than Nightborne
- Dark Irons are a bit better executed than Mag’har, with more unique twists on their model and no AU shenanigans
- Kul Tirans vs Zandies is a matter of taste, but KT’s have much more new/unique model work – Zandies are cobbled together from pre-existing models
- Mechagnomes and Vloops are both niche appeal races (though mechagnomes are considerably more niche)
In my view, the only one that doesn’t really shore up fully are mechagnomes.
HAHAHA wow… they sure look…um, interesting er looking eh robotic haha lol
I can now understand what the post is talking about
- Kind of agree.
- Void elves are just a letdown because the lack of an unique posture and running animation. It’s so jarring to be all broody like that while frolicking like a valley girl… In that regard I think the Nightborne are more well executed. Void elves also have this weird situation of 4/6 of their skin tones being almost identical.
- Also yeah subjective… Mag’har being slightly ahead because the possibility of different clans + heritage armor colors.
- This one def. is the only real tie for me. But I would LOVE if male KTs could get the skinny option. Since they share hair and beards and faces already (though would suck for ladies not having a similar).
- Vulpera is clearly a winner here because of the fact that led me to start this thread hahaha. And their heritage is something extremely unique.
All fair.
For voids, I agree that more skin tones are needed (and not necessarily blood/high elf tones… just more blues and purples). A more stoic posture would be cool too. Even without those though, (the lack of) Nightborne model quality puts a serious damper on everything else that AR gets right (such as its stunning city).
I would love if they took 2 of those identical skin tones and go ALL THE WAY though with void corruption. Something almost resembling the racial proc, or evel Alleria in void state.
Right. In what Void Elves got well served with hairstyles, Nightborne got a big blow. Their hair models, some of them look kind of unfinished (for AR standards), some with evident polygons. Plus one of the slick back female hairstyles is completely stiff when there is a similar version for npcs that have actual physics.
With SL customization options for vanilla races, AR are surely going to lose a lot of the shine and novelty. I for one, want the whole trend of Allied Races to die with BfA. And for now on they just give us fully realized races, and if they want to give us a niche sect… just add them in as customization options. Like they are doing with Troll clans, or Wildhammers.
Though before forgetting about ARs. Blizzard, please give a second pass on the options (or lack of) they have.
I’d bet anything that once the core races have all their planned customization in, a lot of the new customizations will be “ported” their their AR counterparts.
I don’t know, I think I look pretty cool.
But for real, I’d lessen some of the restrictions on bracers and legs. Mostly letting Mechagnome leggings go down to the knees at least.
The Alliance really got shafted with Mechagnomes and Kul’Tirans. I can’t make an alt of those 2 races for the life of me… and I play a Panda.
This has been a feedback since the 8.3 PTR, even using the in game suggestion feature. The silence is pretty obvious clue that it wont be changed.
Cloth is the worst armor set for mechagnomes. Robes look so bad on them. Mails pretty bad too
Plate and leather is okay.
I hope for more customization of limbs too.
Give them full robotic options and customizations, the option to not have any fleshy parts. (Paint color, Robo-hair, ect.)
And allow them to decide to show or hide their robotic limbs when wearing armor, so as to avoid the diaper baby situation.
The problem with Mechagnomes has always been the ugly contrast with the fleshy bits, if they had the option to be full-robot, it opens the door for much more meaningful and pleasing aesthetic options for transmogs and customizations.
