Finally gave FF14 a try!

Please, he didn’t even get past the beginning area and went in wanting to hate it. So no, I don’t respect TC or their opinion on the matter as they already made up their mind.

Anyone defending the antics of the TC is just as bad as them.

You don’t need to get past a starting point of a game to understand that you don’t like it.

I never played more than the initial intro of Skyrim because I don’t like how the combat feels, Does that mean I have no right to an opinion on Skyrim? I am sure it’s a good game, People like it but it’s not the game for me and given a big core component of it is combat and I don’t like it.

In my View it sucks.

You never even gave it a chance. You went in there telling yourself you’d hate it, and what a surprise.

Eh for MMO’s that’s not necessarily true. Even wow does the same thing, you start off with a very boring and barebones rotation until almost max level. Hell with current talent trees a lot of specs don’t actually have a true complete rotation until max level.

I played it for awhile and though I loved the different designs it just didn’t hold my attention like Wildstar.

It still holds weight, You are exposed to the Art Style, The Basics of combat (Which stay the same throughout the whole game) and the pacing at the very beginning.

Every MMO has a distinct Art style, As-well as a distinct way of handling it’s combat and most of these will be exposed at the start or very close to the start of playing it, Yes WoW handles things with more complexity at the end game with complex builds but they all still have the basics applied which is it’s tab target style gameplay and almost everything is on the GCD and the GCD resets fast.

WoW’s Art style at the start is more or less the same through the whole game.

FFXIV’s combat is slow at the start with long GCD’s and it’s still relatively slow at the end-game albiet it’s a little faster but it’s still compared to other things? Slow.

FFXIV’s art style is very specific and remains the same level of specifics the whole way through

FFIXV’s Interface is very specific much like WoW’s

In my personal View which probably lines up very well with the OP’s…

It’s artstyle sucks
MSQ is a giant slog that I wouldn’t wish on the worst of the QT/RAG players I find in M+
It’s combat is slow

And it’s interface is painful to use.

And that’s reason enough to hate it, Is it a good game for other people? Sure is it a good game for me? no and in my opinion it sucks, much like the OP is entitled to their opinion much like everyone else is.

There’s no point in speaking with someone so full of excuses.

you didnt like skyrim because you didnt make a stealth archer

Because people have different taste of course. I liked both.

This person never sat in Limsa for the true FF experience.

Took an arrow to the knee

I disliked Limsa a lot at first, as I haaaaate laberynthic cities (or laberynthic mountains). But when I was with a friend fooling around and saw a sunset there, fell in love with it.

I am betting this is an April fools day post and you actually love the game

Ah, Final Fantasy. The RPG version of a walking simulator. Be amazed at the story and the pretty graphics to distract from the sterile, boring gameplay that is the Final Fantasy brand.

Where the RPG is not making your character unique, but choosing from a static list of jobs and even more uninspired specialists you get to unlock.

No thanks. Final Fantasy might be great for people who don’t read books, but I need something a little more inspiring than being locked in a boss room Mega Man-style.

They make you hate Alphi in Realm Reborn, cause you get to see him as a flawed person with flawed ideals. Then it hits him hard in the rear at he end of it. He grows through Heavensward becoming much more likeable to the point that you don’t want to see him get hurt in Stormblood and see how he puts his new knowledge to work in Shadowbringers. All the characters in the game evolve as the story goes on. Well worth playing it as a Single player game just for the story but the Extremes and Savages and to an extent Ultimates are there for those looking for a challenge.

because it’s more casual friendly, which is the majority of the market.

also anime has become more and more popular in the west over the last couple decades, so the art style is appealing to many people.

end of the day they’re different games that accomplish different things and people only compare them because they have similar tab target combat.

I messed around with FF14 a few years back, but could never get into it. Same can be said about every other MMO that came out and tried dethroning WOW. Tried Tera, Rift, Guild Wars 1&2, Star Wars, D&D, LOTRO, and a bunch of other popular F2P ones and none stuck more than a few weeks. Closest one was Star Wars because the combat and interface was a legit clone of WOW.

Say what you will, and despite it’s many issues, WOW is king.
