I just wish their glamour (xmog) system was half as intuitive as WoW’s xmog system. FFXIV’s biggest drawback for me is that everything is oddly disorganized-feeling. But it could also be because I’m coming from a different game I’ve been playing for 16 years.

Got to agree with that, some of the layouts and systems are clunky. It’s not enough to put me off the game, but now and then I just wish they’d streamline that stuff.

Surprised the Elves in FF14 isn’t played the most, mmmmm.
The Elzen (elf equivalent) have weirdly shaped heads imo. Besides the lalafels (an awkward mix between a child and a potato) the Elzen are the most awkwardly proportioned race aesthetically IMO.
The Lalafell are the main turnoff for me in FF. I find them so annoying. lol.
Still, I’m definitely gonna try the game out again.

Its what ive been playing for a couple weeks. 16 years of WoW with only a break during WoD and I never thought Id be done. I am positive that I am done this time.
I’ve had such positive experiences in FFXIV the past two weeks, that I actually become emotional on two occasions. The most welcoming, kind, helpful community that I thought was dead in the world.
This coming from someone who generally hates anime and has never seen a single episode of DBZ or Pokemon or any of that stuff.
Edit: I may try WoW again in 9.2 or the next expansion (9.1 looks awful to me) but for now, for a long long time, im done.

At this rate WoW is gonna have to add npc followers for players pretty soon to combat the drop off in the player base. People will still pretend we have 13 million subs like its peak popularity and mockingly call every mmorpg released “wowkillers” without realizing the game is literally turning to dust in their hands.
Classic wow’s success and the state of Shadowlands should be enough of a wake up call, but denial isn’t just a river in Egypt.
I mean to be fair, fan will be fan, even in Heroes of the Storm they were in denial up until every blues post their farewell message (i know the forum isn’t an airport but still).

Yeah of all the many Lala NPCs there’s only one I like. They’re definitely dumb, but they’re not so prevalent that it ruins the story or anything like that.
I definitely recommend giving the game another go. Not sure how far you got whenever you tried last time but they made the free trial version so that it’s the whole base game and the entire first xpac so you get quite a bit without even paying.
The Shadowbringers story was incredible and the class design for dps is really fun IMO. Tanks and (especially) healers aren’t as in as good of spot mainly cause there’s not much uniqueness mechanically between the various classes.
New xpac is coming out in November and so far what’s been shown looks very promising.
FFXIV used to be my “Side” mmo, but it swapped with WoW to the main one i play towards the end of legion/start of BfA and I’ve loved it! ARR is sadly kind of meh but all the xpacs have been fantastic!

I wanted to make a cat guy but I also wanted to avoid any stigma or hate directed at cat guys so I made a Lalafell. But I made him with the deepest voice option possible. I like my Lalafell, but I don’t know anything about the in-game lore or anything behind the different races.
I went ahead and made a cat guy. To me, making a Lalafell would be the equivalent of joining Night Fae. Shudder

I’m just pretending my guy is the FF equivalent to my goblin or gnome. I went with Arcanist because Carbuncle, and I like gnomes with pet classes for some reason.
If I went with a melee or black mage (whatever it is called, Conjurer?) I’d have gone with cat guy.

I’ll probably jump back on this weekend. I took a good break though so I’ll have to relearn some rotations on various jobs lol.
