Maybe I’m lacking imagination or something but mostly all I see is an ad for avatars and cool graphics.

It doesn’t really say what it’s about. Just looking pretty & cool isn’t enough, imo. There’s got to be more for me to bother with.

FF is just the new hot topic Mmo and its gonna be that way for a few months.

Ironic considering its current iteration has been out and successful for 8 years.

People on these forums are so out of touch that some actually think Final Fantasy just recently came out and think that is why everyone is talking about it so much.

EDIT: I have to specify, “current iteration” because the original release of the game was so piss-poor that an entirely new development lead came in and completely destroyed the game to remake it into A Realm Reborn as its 2.0 release. This is actually referred to in-game as “The Calamity” throughout the story.

There is more and more game magazines writing how FF will eat wow, and I will boldly say that will never happen. WoW will always be best MMO regard if one or two MMO’s gave flawless year. World of Warcraft franchise is still keeping its crown as best MMO on market. You disagree? Fine means you wouldn’t like this game even if its perfect in your way

FFXIV has already more subs than WoW now. It broke Steam record for most players and most people don’t even use Steam when playing FFXIV. It recently broke Twitch records too and it was the most popular stream for Asmongold (who is an avid WoW streamer). It broke Twitch record. Most websites have listed FFXIV above WoW in the MMORPG category as well.

I know it’s hard to accept the truth especially for those people who have invested WAY too much time into WoW, but WoW is actually really #2 now and it’s falling. Ashes is doing its alpha test later next month and that game is also looking pretty promising in terms of a genuine MMORPG. The only difference back then was we didn’t have the awful systems Legion/BfA/Shadowlands did year after year which is what is turning away players.

and yet folks were buying it due to the Steam Sale, I mean…30 bucks for the original+Shadow is a literal steal. But hey…grats on gaining mass for money.

Isn’t Ashes feared to being DoA due to it’s overambition? Also FF14’s basis is due to the new player perks and pandering. Of course, you’d have to ignore the criticisms of 14 and the issues that flare up (Longer content droughts than WoW. Lack of Savage tier raids. A toxic community that is mostly made up of hyper casuals that want stuff pandered to them. Hostile issues due to criticism and rampant banhammers on “harassment”)

but whatever seems any criticism of 14 is “irrelevant” to some of the folks pushing it.

I never claimed FF just came out, I said it was the new top topic mmo.
As you stated yourself its changed over the years and…that leads to it becoming a top topic again.
