You basically walk from npc to npc between cutscenes. That’s the content 
If I want a story, I read a book. Games are for playing.
It’s not a single player game, it’s an MMO and the staggering amount of voiceless cut scenes and annoying exposition is a valid criticism of the game, coming here from a guy with over 800 hours invested into it and quit during stormblood. I only played for my friends. It’s a generic JRPG and nothing more, great music though.
I also don’t need the game awards telling me what game I should be playing. Hopefully we’re all adults here and realize that we like what we like and don’t need others telling us so. If you like FFXIV good on you.

That’s apart of the game lol? And FFXIV has third party DPS meters, you just can’t shame others for not using it or doing poorly.
I don’t understand how that defeats my point but okay.
I’d actually prefer that style of leveling rather than WoW’s. At least in FF you get an engaging story all the way up to max level.
WoW is more of the same, kill “X” amount of mobs, fetch this item, etc.
FF14 isn’t for me but you can’t hate on the story. They actually care about it lol

Never said it does. I just find it amusing to tell a crowd that is always making e-pen contests that Awards mean nothing.
Mostly the people who like FFXIV and play it to their enjoyment could not care less about that “criticism”, because most of us like FF EXACTLY because it is story rich.
And as I pointed out before, MSQs are to enjoy story. You have a ton of other things to do for combat, crafting and other aspects of the game.
If I were to return the criticism, I would say that WoW players often dont know what to do unless they are directed to by a auto accept quest or a unskippable decision.
When you are playing FF, you can just go and take some combat quests. Do some dungeons, whatever. And you can only say FF does not offer equal or harder instances if you dont really know FF that well.
The problem is really the game you like, you know well, the game you dont like, you dont know well. So people should not levy criticism if they cant really mention everything pertaining to that criticism.
And saying “I dont like this” is not criticism, despite what many here think. It is perfectly acceptable that me not liking wow is not a criticism to the game, and I know that. I would not criticize WoW for making story irrelevant, or making specific decisions about it. Or the way they use “special abilities” as main or required abilities in combat.
However I can criticize WoW for being inconsistent in story telling, because that is not sourced in my dislike of it, but in a objective contradiction in story telling. Or the fact that some abilities defeat their purpose when modeled in a certain way, because it does not hinge on me liking that ability or its use.
That is the main reason many people cant actually get what they want from the feedback they give. They are not saying what is wrong, just that they dont like a result they are getting.

Saying “I don’t like this” is the text book definition of criticism lol, it’s dependent on the context given. And FF14 has an abundance of boring exposition and breadcrumb quests just like WoW’s with the exception that it gives a boring voice devoid cutscene with your silent protagonist character a lot of the time.
And what does that award mean to you? Does it validify your choice of game? If so I’m sorry but I pity people who try to validate their choice of game based on an award. Especially an award that has nothing to do with the players but instead the corrupt journalists voting, even news sites have stake in the game awards and if I have to state the obvious, they have nothing to do with gaming.
If you love the game so much and have this malice and hatred towards WoW’s design, I have good news, you can let your sub lapse, go play FF14 and let your game award winning e-peen out infront of people who will validate you more. You deserve it friend
