FFXIV Ultimates vs WoW Mythics. Which is more difficult?

I’m voting for FFXIV. Not only do you have to play the same DDR as WoW mythics, but if you miss a single GCD, you throw off the repeating 2-minute burst window for the entire raid and may as well wipe.

In WoW you really only focus on your own cool downs.

Do 20 different air horns go off if you step in the fire in XIV?

No, everyone just dies.

Ultimates.

I don’t think any class has such a rigid gameplay in FFXIV anymore with 2 minute long rotations. That used to be summoner, but not for a while.

I find ff14 savages to be less stressful, less random, and more enjoyable.

Summoner with the 90s burst window was pure sadism.

Savage is different from Ultimate.
Granted, I’m not familiar enough with ultimate to comment too much.
My limited understanding is that it’s difficult for kinda different reasons than Mythic in WoW.

They’re certainly on par with some of WoW’s most notorious end-tier bosses(Sha of Fear, Kil’Jaeden), but because they only require 8 I’d still say Mythic Raiding is harder. Also there is only 3(4?) ultimates in FF14.

Blizzard’s measure is skill + community building hence the 20man teams.

Savage is no where near mythic.

Are you sure you’re not just misattributing the handicap of the 3 year GCD on every ability? Yeah of course it’s hard when you gotta cook dinner between casts and make it back on time.

FF14 Ultimates 100%

If this is what you think you have never played past level 10…

If classes in FF14 actually have static rotations that are even close to that long, I’m glad I don’t play it since it sounds boring as hell.

Yeah it’s a lot slower than wow, thats for sure combat wise…

FF14 is a matter of overcoming the pattern variations. Wow is a matter of praying your spell cast gets off before the tank dies.

Oh wait, never mind. There’s an AOE under you. GGs.

Ultimates. Savage is only easier than mythic raiding because of the infinite battle rez and the fact that their are actually windows to use it. But otherwise Mythic Raiding’s 20 person size and limited battle rez makes it harder. Not to mention blizz’s asinine fight design where it’s easy to die to things and only understand why when looking at the log.

Ultimates however… LOL yeah even one spare GCD to rez someone isn’t really a thing AFAIK. If someone messes their burst window you’ll fail the DPS check etc. It doesn’t matter if the fight design is better it’s tuned within an absolute inch of death. There is just no margin, 8 people must perform perfectly down to the GCD. If one person lags… you may as well come back when they have better net.

Based on time to clear they seem similar in difficulty to the more challenging mythic raid end bosses.

8 people playing well vs 20 is also a difference.

Scaling vs gear progression is different

Overall it doesn’t matter for anything but people wanting to argue, like saying their favorite sport is harder.

You would be incorrect.

Ultimates and final bosses of raids take roughly the same time to kill which is about 3-6 days. Now add in the 7-11 extra bosses and it’s no where close.

This is why I think it’s less enjoyable. It’s the same fight every single time. WoW bosses are infinitely more dynamic. Just look at Tindral seeds. Different every single time.

FFXIV hard modes are quite a bit harder than WOW mythics. But I don’t find their raids engaging. WOW is a lot more dynamic and interesting with raiding.

FFXIV dungeons are pretty much the same as WOW dungeons enjoyment-wise for me. They definitely have better boss and dungeon music than WOW. But WOW tends to have better zone music.

Both games have their good points and bad points. FFXIV’s lore is on another level from WOW, no contest - it’s way better. Levelling your first job through a new expansion is a better experience than WOW. But levelling alt jobs is nothing but grind grind grind since you can’t do the quests again (since it’s on the same character).

WOW has much more engaging combat and MUCH better alt levelling. Since you can do the quests again since it’s a different character. Also much more variety since each job in FFXIV is one job, no specs or anything.

FFXIV is harder because there is a lot less people using addons that basically play the game for them. WoW players need their crutches to even step foot in a dungeon.
