FFXIV by most objective measures is a terrible game. I tried it and found the aesthetic bland, the combat/movement atrocious, the UI ancient and few redeeming qualities.
The only people I know who are into it also really love anime or final fantasy in general… that’s a lot of people. It probably appeals to casual players more as well.
The one thing I liked as far as systems go is how you can be any class (job) on one toon… wow should borrow that.
Anyways, I’m back on wow, all this FFXIV talk is nothing more than a clever psyop/ninja marketing ploy.

I always tell everyone that if you don’t like dense narratives and watching cinematics, don’t play FF14. It’s not for the slot machine players.

You can’t complaint about the FF UI being ancient if you’re comparing it to WoW. The WoW base UI is absolutely terrible. If you’re comparing it to add ons then that’s a unfair comparison, because blizzard didn’t fix their UI the community did.

I more likely to quit wow for DOTA2, League of Legends or path of exile than I am for another MMO.
Each MMO has that feeling of “its just not wow”… hell with the exception of the Garrosh cinematic shadowlands doesn’t feel like wow anymore either.

Honestly you people seriously do not even think about what you’re writing before you post, do you? FFXIV has been running fine the last eight years and suddenly now people are seeing it as a better alternative to WoW and suddenly there’s some dramatic conspiracy of “an inferior game trying to poach WoW customers?”
Get over yourselves. FFXIV will still be fine in the years to come, yet Blizzard is already showing signs of buckling after one issue after another with its community.

FFxiv i good if you like playing dressing dolls. Thats what 90% of their fan base does as their endgame. Crafting and dressing their characters with cute transmogs and building a cute house.

Not really, that’s like saying wow is only good for rednecks. Clearly that’s not true. Anime is short for animated Japanese cartoons(basically a different term then american cartoons) - has nothing to do with video games whatsoever when talking about FF14.
Only if you go looking for it. If you pull up party finder, you’ll find TONS of savage/extreme pugs forming every minute. Yes people really do stuff, its just that yo’ve watcheds some youtube video and someone said that. Other players are also busy making money with crafting, and others are doing instanced content so you’ll never see it. There is an endgame, you just didn’t go looking for it.

Yes really, i played it i know it. I quit because of the lack of endgame.
I mainly just want slot machines.
I don’t like FF14. I love anime.
My gf loves anime too, but also likes FF14.
We sit back to back, she playing FF, I play WoW.
It’s fine. People getting defensive about either game is silly.

i was brought up on mythical/medieval fantasy the likes of wow, runescape, and others
actually its not even so much that anime is the problem imo. its just how they have this weird affinity for mixing things that don’t really relate well to each other–like mixing anime with western fantasy with steam punk and cat pplz and cars as mounts, etc etc and just absolutely nothing about it is aesthetic.
like i still think if they ever made a naruto MMO it would be killer on a level never seen…
but final fantasy? like why is it even an mmo? and why randomly just 14? wouldnt it make more sense to do world OF final fantasy or something lol… IDK it just seems out of place considering all the other final fantasy games… cannot get into it
Yes they do the extremes that dont give anything really usefull, and arent really hard. Now how many do the ONE raid with 4 bosses, that i must add, gives the same reward as grinding dungeons every week.
