I didn’t find any evidence that they have more subscribers than WoW on that link but I’d be laughing hard if it’s true. And it wouldn’t surprise me since Blizzard refuses to listen to players on important features.
Anyways, starting next month I’m gonna have an extra $15 dollars a month from unsubscribing to another certain game. I just may renew my FFXIV sub.

As it turns out, I think I like Final Fantasy XIV even more.

Ehhhhh I mean it’s fun but I don’t know if I’d call it the absolute king.
EASILY a better story in execution. Like the MSQ is just so god damn good it’s disgusting how much it destroys WoW. Like if there were ever a WoW 2, CHRIST I wish they’d give its storytelling the same sort of treatment as 14 handles theirs. But the PVE content feels a bit…eh. The gear progression is great since Tomestones are pretty much badges of Justice/Valor, but running Expert Roulettes isn’t quite the same as doing M+.
Gotta give it props for the music though. WoW’s is good but you can’t not rock out to FF14’s OST.
FF14 won’t let me play f2p because I bought a month sub back in 2014 on my account.
There were things about FFXIV that I liked, but not enough to stick with it.

That article provides no proof at all.
I would ask somebody to quote the article in it’s entirety on there because it’s asking me to pay in order to even see more then just 5 seconds before the popup is telling me to pay up (off to a fantastic start here. /s) , but from the sound of the comments below, it doesn’t sound like a good article. Not to mention OP picked just out one article and propping that on a pedestal that for some reason, final fanasty is the king now, and the obvious question of if the OP finds Final Fantasy to be the king of MMO’s then why the OP is still on WoW. And to top it all off…

FFXIV is a game that I’m enjoying immensely, however it’s far from impeccable and in many ways there are things about WoW I prefer to it.
WoW has way more world mobility. FFXIV has a lot of artificial world barriers (it’s not even close to as ‘open world’ as WoW is).
With the notable exception of corruptions WoW appears to have an acceptable amount of skill animation. Being on WoW first it feels way too flashy for honestly no reason.
FFXIV takes the cake for the driest introduction to the game and I wouldn’t be surprised if a ton of people quit due to how bad it is.
There is a much larger community of people willing to defend game decisions in FFXIV even if some of those flaws (imo) are warranted.
(I also have a ton of positive things to say, just listing what I don’t like for the time being).
FFXIV is probably on my top three list of worst MMORPGs in the history of online gaming. Every thing about it from their horrfic global cooldown fiasco known as a combat system to horrific loading times to god awful spam bots every where you look to awful gameplay, even worse quests and is just mind-numbingly boring to play in every sense imaginable.
Once it’s been around for over 15 years, then we can talk, until then? Yeah… it’s the king of garbage, nothing more.

. FF14 has better story. WoW has better gameplay.
ARR hasn’t been a thing for almost 6 years now.
I will say FFXIV story is top tier.
I don’t really care for the overly sensitive community. I mean “no damage meters because it may offend people”?? Nope I just couldn’t stick with it.
Im thinking more like lineage or lineage 2 to be honest if we mean pure numbers. This game just isn’t fun and very hard to make friends. I mean real friends not folks stuck in some mythic guild.
