Going to say FFXIV am playing it now, the community is amazing! The story and gameplay brilliant. But after 8 years of wow I feel like I picked up the wrong MMO from the start.
Eh.
If not this if say pick up an old game system and play through a few games you liked back in the day.
None of those mentioned in the title if you are “waiting for classic” and looking for games with a more classic experience, because all of those are more like modern WoW than Classic. If you want a game more in line with Classic while waiting on Classic then take a look at Ever Quest or maybe Ever Quest 2.
Those games you suggested will be more in line with modern WoW than classic.
Also, I feel like this is more of a thread for the Games and Gaming forum.
Hearts of iron 4 is a good mmo
ESO and GW2 are both fantastic right now. I ping between the two though I would say from personal experience that ESO has the better and more lively community between the two.
I tried FF but I guess I’m just not anime enough to like that, something about the game irritates me on a deep level.
Well aren’t you a ray of sunshine.
Hmm let’s see, my guild has had no more than 2 on at any given time since 2 months into bfa. In SWTOR I have found a guild that is running ops every day . Guild events every week. My experience is I’m having more fun with SWTOR right now. WoW is not fun, so I don’t play
Final Fantasy 14. I haven’t been on since they updated it but I think it just got another class…for free. I want to say Blue Mages.
I actually like ff14 it’s quite interesting and new. The very slow combat is something you get used to.
Played swtor, eso and gw2 and don’t like them. I would never play bdo.
I agree. SWTOR is great if you love Bioware style RPG’s. At this point it’s not really an MMO but if you love Star Wars it’s a solid RPG.
BDO sux. I’d say play Tera or Blade and Soul if you want that Korean grinder style MMO.
I am always amazed at people that dislike Modern WoW…are waiting for Classic…and the other options they turn to.
I mean you are more than welcome to explain other wise you are just trolling.
I’m happy with WoW and think it is the best MMO…
…but nothing wrong with having a diversion. I started playing GW2 and it is neat.
FF14 … Behemoth mount… close argument!
Seriously it is a nice game if you like story driven content and you level up to about level 30 so that the GCD stops being painful.
beautiful rhyme
I’ve played FF, GW, ESO, and Rift recently.
The only one I would consider spending time in is FFXIV.
Because as it was already explained. None of the games listed offer anything close to a “classic” experience.
All the games do many things much worse (or similar) that people complain about here on WoW’s forums. See the outrage we have over extremely minor things on the WoW Store? Can’t wait to see a person’s reaction when they look at ESO’s. Just as an example.
If you just want something different. Whatever. I can understand that. I just find it odd a person would be “I dislike these aspects of WoW, and I am waiting till Classic. What game that is incredibly similar to modern WoW should I play?”
This is my hope, I just went back to star wars, at least my guild has people in it:)
None of that was explained by the OP. You are taking outrage over other aspects of the game mentioned in other places on the forums and pushing that onto the OP. Newsflash: one can be tired of WoW, even the modern version, and want to try something different until the Classic version is released. Some people just miss the aspect of WoW that leaned heavily on community.
Yes, I believe I addressed that specific point.
