SWTOR if you want to burn time, playing the 8 stories is very entertaining at least for me, past that you can focus on 1 or 2 characters to play the expansions.
I go back to FF14 from time to time, and am considering resubbing now actually, but am diving into ESO at the moment so I’ll wait. The story plays a lot like Skyrim, and so far (I haven’t gotten terribly far yet) it feels really good in the world.
It seems like it would be great for either a solo or group player. There are actually quite a few people around no matter what I’m doing, so I haven’t even found the need to actually group, but still team up with people all the same.
I’m really enjoying it. I like the skill and class system a lot, and then I guess there’s housing later? I didn’t do a ton of research, just tried out the free weekend a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Finally talked myself into buying the package with everything up to the upcoming expac, which was only 50 bucks. And no sub unless you want to for some bonus perks. Nothing pay to win.
I miss AC and I vote GW2 even though a person mentioned the graphics are poor… by comp Wow is stick people drawn with dull crayons.
FF14 seems great so far, more so if your into Anime… keep waiting for the manga pantie flashes.
Have you considered Secret World Legends? Has the best story of any game I have ever played. Community is great, but endgame is a little grindy.
ESO . Great questing areas .interchangeble .
Swtor is far from dead. I’m there now and having lots of fun. I recommend it.
None of the above, all are bad.
Yeah…far from dead even though its down to 2 NA servers lol
… ///
well
SWTOR- amazing story /leveling experience… was truly disappointed with Endgame. and FTP
ESO- very immersive and Fun while leveling, Endgame is also fun but without friends you’ll be playing catch up. FTP
GW2- is FTP and in my limited experience with it I just didn’t enjoy it as much as GW1… grpahics way better but idk… just not same feel for me “shrug”
FF14- never tried
BDO - never tried
Destiny 2 - not sure is a real MMO? but I got it for free during the thing and ive enjoyed it a great deal enough to actually but the Expansions/DLC
Atlas- Looks good but apparently Server problems are killing the game before it can truly take off??
Archeage- is the one that keeps catching my eye and makes me want to try… but ive read up enough on it to know you really want to go into it with either Friends or $$$$$ as it is very Time sink(y) or pay to win… Shrugs
other then that personally I had decided to Avoid another MMO and focus on the single player games. as ive been enjoying AC: Odyssey a great great deal. as well as Total war: Atilla, State of Decay 2, and when I’m done with Odyssey I plan on buying Red Dead 2…… Anthem FINALY has a release date. last Few days ive been having a bit of fun on Heroes of the Storm and World of Warships. XD
I left WoW before and tried those games trying to compete against it. I came back to WoW. There’s no other MMO there like WoW. BTW, I am a WoW player since Vanilla who loves 5-man dungeons and Raids. Was hardcore back then from Naxx40 to ICC but now casual.
One common thing I found on those games. There is fewer population… fewer raiding guilds… fewer to play with. And their expansion sucks. I can understand why. They have fewer players, fewer funds to get better expansion. Unlike WoW, still have lots of players… Blizz have funds to create enormous expansions. 8th expansions now and still kicking.
Did you just try to add meme arrows to your post? This ain’t the chan.
I’m putting a ‘toe in the water’ for ESO after some former wow guildies asked me to join them… on a good PC it looks absolutely Gorgeous, having played Skyrim and other games from this company, i’m quite impressed.
The professions look very interesting, plays very differently to WoW and my goodness… it looks the business.
Early days yet, but a LOT of people online whenever I log on and so far the World feels HUGE.
Oh must have clicked something wrong .i didnot meant to . I don’t even know how it turned out like that .
ESO is my preferred mmo when I’m not playing WoW. It has tons of relevant content for all aspects of the playerbase and it seems to have a pretty friendly community!
I don’t recommend BDO. That game is literally all grind and it has no endgame. The combat is cool though.
I’ll throw in a vote for FFXIV.
The past week, they added in a new job (class) which is decidedly “unique”. It’s Blue Mage, and for those familiar with the series, this class is known for learning abilities from enemy monsters; usually by getting hit by these abilities. A little different this time around, by having you learn them by SEEING the ability (not necessarily get hit by it), then defeating the enemy; there’s a random chance factor as well, no guarantee you’ll learn the ability (and yes, some have ridiculously low learn rates).
On the bright side, all Blue Mage in the party do learn the spell and you don’t have to repeat it for them… aside from the fact most parties split into high levels who can solo it quickly and Blue Mages to learn, switching every few kills and/or after the party learns it. Luckily the kinder nature of the FFXIV community does shine through and the other half will USUALLY stick around for a bit to try and help those who helped them.
One important detail about the new job?
It has a lower level cap and can’t queue for content.
It’s so unbalanced and potentially broken that it can’t be allowed into “normal” content. Pre-made groups are the only way into dungeons and trials (single boss fights), and it’s at a lower level cap (50, compared to the current cap of 70) because there’s no way they could allow it into “current” content.
Considering various abilities are:
- Deal 50% of current health to enemy target (when it works on something)
- Kill target after 15 seconds (again, doesn’t work on everything)
- Reduce enemy to 1 health (starting to see a pattern here?)
- Spammable stuns, death grips, knockbacks, etc. Several of them high-damage AoEs.
- Laser eyes. Actually two different abilities, different shaped AoEs (line and cone).
- A one-two AoE combo that does as much damage (actually more in the right circumstances) as the super-spells learned from “Primal” boss enemies. Second one being a ridiculously huge ring-shaped AoE.
- Bad Breath, the feared “apply every debuff in the game” ability.
- Put enemy to sleep for 30 seconds, in a game WITHOUT the usual crowd-control spells.
- Drop a giant anvil on someone’s head.
- Throw a fish at the target. Which, incidentally, is a spammable ranged silence.
- Self-Destruct, which does EXACTLY what the name says it does.
… I’ve been having a bit of fun over the past few days.
I hate this debuff from those walking plants, at least it is a very visible and slow cast… and to think there is an entire dungeon in the game dedicated to them (and that there are some tanks that take the debuff head-on, poor healer).
Ffxiv just released blue mage. It’s alot of fun. But I already play 3 of the 5 you listed plus wow. ESO is fun to tinker in, but I haven’t gotten heavy into it. Swtor I go back for story then leave again. Ffxiv and wow both keep my interest tho.
Lord of the Rings Online
A little slow to level, but it’s well made.
I don’t find blue mage all that broken outside of White Wind. Bosses are obviously immune to their “cheap shot” spells like Tail Screw, and their direct damage spells have a reasonable potency.
The problem is that they don’t have a rotation because of the way they work (if they did you would need to learn their spells in order, and there couldn’t be as many spells to learn) so doing a hardcore raid for 2 hours just spamming your most powerful spell and keeping Off-guard up would suck. Same will having only White Wind for healing. Blue mage also traditionally had funky spells that would be impossible to balance with the normal classes, so instead of adapting the class to fit in the hyper balanced model of an MMO, they just didn’t bother to and locked it out of hard content.
As an aside, I’m kind of interested to see if Blizzard can come up with something similar to blue mage for WoW. In WoW you can’t change your character’s class at a whim and raiding is super important (even moreso than FF) so WoW can’t have a class that flat out can’t do raids, but this is a super cool on-the-side class to work with. I think it would be super cool to go back to Icecrown Citadel and learn spells like the Lich King’s Defile or Fury of Frostmourne.
