He disappeared for awhile probably got banned lmao. He ruined his forum persona start by claiming he was new then posting like he wasn’t. Was called out for it and shut down pretty quick lol.
Hello, I see you replied to another poster about my post. I am a new player, unless only playing for 3 hours isn’t considered new anymore! Fortunately I have never been banned from the fantastic World of Warcraft General Discussion forums! Did you know people have lives outside of the forums!?
Thanks for your post and I hope you have a fantastic day!
What’s weird is that you cannot sell a carry, but you can offer to pay for one and that’s fine.
The rules are so arbitrary over there and it’s been getting worse over time.
The PF will just flip over, instead of people saying “WTS carries” you’ll have the buyers posting “WTB carries” and the sellers will just message them directly.
That’s a good thing , they care more of the game integrity than wow.
If lazy and greed are what drives these players then Wow does not need them either.
That’s all well and good…but FF14 is having a services sell, so if anyone wants to skip the cutscenes now is a good time to buy
what this person said
Hello, I see you think we’re stupid.
we’re not.
Hello, I see you replied to my post. I’m sorry you feel that way but I do not believe any of my fellow adventurers are stupid! I’m not sure how you came to such a wild conclusion! Hopefully my posts in the future will better convey my thought processes!
Thanks for your post and have a wonderful day!
FF14 destroying paid carries and causing that player base to flock back to WoW is actually a blow to WoW, not them. Those people are parasites that destroy games.
Talk about a proxy war lol
AOTC doesn’t even mean anything anymore considering you can pay for it. I feel bad for all the players that legitimately worked for that achievement, it’s been cheapened.
Most players don’t buy it, I only know of one and she bought it because she made a new character and has done all the content on her main. Which in that view is a good reason.
They said it’s not allowed to advertise on party finder, they aren’t stopping it from happening
They’ve already begun to get creative with their wording in their ilvl 999 requirement party finders.
All the WoW players are coming back to WoW now for sure, if they can’t pay to get carried they are going to play.
many players make a lot of gold and also real life money from players who buy carries, a lot of people care about carries.
I only know one person that plays FF14, and they got it because they didn’t want to waste hours in cutscenes instead of getting ready for the next x-pack.
Although, she did say she enjoys the cutscenes…they just take to long
You’re supposed to put an /s for sarcasm.
Seeing as you’re not replying I’m assuming you’re just sitting back to enjoy the show.
Likely true.
HOWEVER, the total percentage of the subscription playerbase who benefit from paid carries is probably far less than 1%.
Yes, there will be a vocal bunch of people who will be disappointed they can’t buy or sell carries. But the vast majority of players will not be affected.
Even when allowed, paid carries are often seen as a form of “legal cheating”. Their presence can be annoying to those who do not use them as you cannot tell if someone earned their gear… or if they just bought it.
Banning paid carries and other forms of legal cheating can be quite popular with the folks who see such services as cheating.
Whatever the percentage might be, I know for a fact that a lot of wow players are more than happy to hand over gold and real life money for wow carries. People make a killing from it.
I am completely in favor of boosting and token thingy as even though i have played for around 13 years now but most of them on private ,so i joined at the end of wod . And i think there are skill/dedication in both money making and raiding . Some can farm gold easily some can do raids easily and if something comes that require more than you can take you can always buy a carry and get mount I bought wow basic pack and thanks to tokens i have not given any RTM to blizz .
Quite possible.
But the number of people making a killing from selling paid carries is far less than the number actually buying those carries. And even that number is far far less than the total population.
Ultimately, the standard shouldn’t be “will this action anger a miniscule portion of the playerbase taking advantage?”, instead it should be “will this action make for a healthier, more fun game?”
… and I think FF14’s action as described in this thread passes that test.
I’ve never played FF14, but do recall the many purges WoW went through trying to get rid of cheating, sometimes banning tens of thousands of accounts at a time. Ultimately, I think those efforts made for a better game.
I do not think these actions will sign the “death warrant” for FF14. If anything, I think it will have either no effect on the population or perhaps slightly increase it.
I don’t disagree with their efforts and I wish them better luck than WoW has had with that losing battle.
