Don’t care…
That’s a good thing lmbo
imagine needing addons to play a game.
It’s true, thats one big turn off for many wow players who try ff14. Everything is locked behind a story but it makes sense why. I hated how, for example, back in BFA the zone drustvar was released - I loved the whole idea and mystery of the zone and the story leading up to what was going on with these witches cursing people and stuff…and only a little bit in, I get put into the dungeon to level up(I had to gear up for raid release and be lvl 120 asap), all was spoiled before I even did any questing. That drust dude, the witch and her frankenstein zombie husband, all of it thrown at you.
FF14 does the opposite. Everything has a logical story why your there and what your doing when you enter. You don’t hit a certain lvl then que into dungeons. They also do not allow datamining and have private testers so nothing get spoiled and the story is fresh for everyone day 1.
But like I said, many wow players go into ff14 looking for the wow experience again when they are looking in the wrong spot. It’s not wow, its its own unique game and you need to play it with a blank mindset or final fantasy mindset if you ever played any of their previous games. If you don’t like the idea of a long story that guides you through while levelinng tho, it won’t be for you.
You played a game for 5 minutes and came to a full conclusion off of that? No game, especially an mmo, can be judged in that amount of time.
Ff14 has probably the most boring start to a game ever, unless they changed it from when I tried it. I get where you’re coming from. First impressions matter and if you’re bored for the first hour that’s not a good thing. However you can’t criticize the entire game but merely that the introduction to the world fails as a hook to get you invested.
It’s really not.
I have to use a WeakAura to make the health/mana bars massive, so I can actually see them.
Maybe to you, I like writing addons and customizing my UI
Agreed, the 2 friends I tried to get into wow from ff14 hated wow before reaching lvl 20. They hated the boring flat-text menus just to tell you to kill 10 boars or whatever. They felt the combat wasn’t fun either. And yes I leveled with them and it didn’t help. First impressions make or break and neither FF14 nor wow have a good first impression.
Yeah I’m not a story guy, if you guys didn’t make ‘Blizz what are you doing with [insert NPC]!’ threads I would have 0 idea what’s going on. I don’t read quests, watch cinematics, have NPC dialog off, so I get no in game information about story whatsoever
As much as I love FF this is one of its biggest problems. Its not a matter of needing them its the fact that the UI is so ugly much like wow’s standard UI.
I would love to be able to stack the hp and mp bars instead of having them side by side, increase the length of the hp by twice as much as the mp and increase the width by about 400 percent as its hard to see with my eyesight.
I think WoW is a little better. The blocks of text aren’t great to read but at least you immediately start off with fighting. FF14 has you screw about in a city for a hot minute before you go into the world to fight.
Both combat systems suck for new players. You get one ability and it takes forever to get more that start working with each other to get a rotation going.
These WoW vs FF arguments is like people arguing over which TV channel is best or which flavour of Ice Cream is best.
Who cares just pick one and enjoy!
Why pick one when you can play both.
Even better I guess
I mean I watch both Disney+ and Netflix
Words cannot describe how badly I want to portray this post with you as a soyjak.
Cope harder or at least try to git gud with the new game first. If I judge Retail WoW right now as a new player starting in Boralus after finishing Exile’s Reach (the first “5 minutes” of the game) as a f2p, I too would have second thoughts about committing myself further into the game.
Yeah that’s one of the things I do in wow, scale windows and font to different sizes/colors to make things easier to read.
Yo, does FF have in game mail? What font do they use?
Look at wows default font
idk how you guys can be ok reading that
this is what I changed mine to look like
(lorem ipsum, don’t bother trying to understand it)
Much easier to read
if FF doesn’t have good font anywhere then that would also be a mark against it
But every nerd fandom does it. It’s in our blood.
Despite not having a mod community (or at least publicly) you can still mod the game (including model textures) while the community frowns on it FF doesn’t have any spyware monitoring running apps let alone looking at what files are modded.
So if you can develop addons in wow you can also do it in FF.
Unrelated but I love the look you have your toon, he looks gruff but friendly.
wow is trash too, but you’re in denial… FF14 is more popular than WoW, sorry it’s a fact.
I’m a bit lost on why the screenshot is so bright, and the contrast is off. The font is a bit… eh on readability though.
