Tried it. Leveling is awful, and the race design alone keeps me out of it. If I can’t get my characters to look good, there’s no point in playing.

FF14 doesn’t have 12 million active players. I’ve played the game and it’s an absolute ghost town after a few weeks into a new expansion. They would need 10x more servers than they have to host 12 million. Their 30~ servers can MAYBE host a few hundred thousand concurrently.

The link says 1.2m when you go to it.

1.2M sounds about right - > that’s about what their current server listing and average server capacity could handle. The queue’s during a new expansion are pretty long, but they would need to open at least 50-70 more servers if it even touched 5 million let alone 12.

But we can tell they make less money
although they have a larger cash shop and the same sub costs.

So its a safe assumption

Lucky for you, they fixed the ARR storyline not to long ago, and removed all the BS parts.

Or you could just pay to skip it if it bothers you.

Less of an assumption and more of an educated guess based on available information. If FF14 had top subscription numbers in the MMO market they’d be shouting it from the rooftops. “come join the #1 played MMO game in the world!” - because why wouldn’t they? The first MMO to top WOW concurrent subs isn’t going to be quiet about it. That’s a mammoth achievement.

Paying to NOT PLAY a game. The true sign of quality content

Totally true.

Here’s another great example.

It is 1.2 million active characters. Check the link. Don’t be misled by the link URL itself.

Do people think Blizz doesn’t listen because they don’t chat or because they don’t give them what they want?

So buy a story-driven MMORPG and then pay to not play the story? Really?

How about people buy an ordinary exploration-based MMO if they’re not into story content and want a PvE alternative to WoW? Like GW2 or ESO, I dunno.

People complain about stuff in FF14 all the time like, why don’t we get new Viera hairstyles its been 2 years ect.

Imagine a game where the dev team reaches out. WoW could interact with the community but they think we are idiots and have no idea how things work

It’s a beautiful game with great music too.

the only reason i dropped it was lack of support from SE for a dps/heal meter.

if im being honest
 they are like
30% correct in that line of thinking

They aren’t wrong half the time but when the top 0.1% says something is broken and they ignore the professionals who get paid to play
then we got an issue.

I mean, Wows new player experience literally allows you to skip all previous expansions. So theres that.

Probably a bit of both? Even Blizzard has come out and said it needs to work on communication with it’s players.

I’d argue the Alliance’s Allied Race list is living proof they don’t listen. What have Alliance players been asking for, for years? High Elves, Broken Draenei, Wildhammer Dwarves, Mechagnomes like from Ulduar, and Vykrul. What did the Alliance get? Void Elves, Lightforged Draenei, Dark Iron Dwarves (the most acceptable of the Alliance Allied Races), Mechagnomes (AKA Junker Gnomes, Diaper Gnomes, etc
), and Fat Humans.

How can you say they listen to their players with that atrocious list of Allied Races?
