Wows classes and combat are so much better though! Looks at balance druids core damage spells sunfire moonfire wrath lunar strike starsurge starfall. Looks at ffxivs dragoon (an easier class) true thrust, vorpeal thrust, full thrust, disembowel, chaos thrust, fang and claw, wheeling thrust, raiden thrust, doom spike, sonic thrust, coerthean torment… thats not including jumps or cooldowns etc.
pretty sure the cutscene plays anytime you clear dragon soul, since it’s soloable it’s a decent bet most of them had to suffer through it
Is it any different than WoW before the level crunch? Leveling in WoW before Legion has always been boring, the difference is that a lot of people forget how awful and boring it historically is, and how barebones many classes are until the current expansion levels.

WOW killed wow and FF gave people a place to be while wow became more irrelevant on its own.
Lol at all the salty FF players reporting my post
It was satire guys, chill out lol.

I mean, I really hope you aren’t defending the leveling at the start of FF.
WoW wasn’t fun but it was fairly quick even before the squish.
I can agree the combat is based on my opinion, but I don’t think a single person who isn’t blatantly lying to themselves can say that initial level grind in FF is fun, engaging, or quick.
I installed the demo to try last night. Took about 20 minutes of non-interactive cutscenes and whatnot before the gameplay started. I then got a bunch of quests that involved just walking around talking to people. I just wanted to try combat so I finally found my way out of town and fought some stuff. And yeah, pretty uninteresting.
That hour or so was enough for me. In fairness I wasn’t really considering the game as an alternative. I really don’t like the FF art style. But I was just curious. If I had been really interested though, that first impression would have absolutely killed it for me. Just an agonisingly slow start, with monstrous piles of awkward, barely comprehensible dialogue to read.
Honestly the leveling to me is a bit boring-ish. It’s not bad and theres easy ways to level up that are pretty enjoyable and not monotonous but I don’t like leveling in 99% of games so that’s just me
FF is not killing WoW
Truth. Activizard is killing WoW.
i’m bad at time zones, but i’m assuming it’s Sunday somewhere lol.
Its nothing compared to WoW leveling all until it was trivialized.
I might have played WoW for a decade and half but I dont have that kind of WoW brainrot that makes people forget how to enjoy a nice and slow storyline.
more likely its the wow players that just dont want to see FF mentioned on the forums.
Final fantasy is an atrocious game with the most boring stand and watch combat I have ever played.
Stand and watch?
There is actual DPS mechanics for backstab and dodging attacks is mandatory.
Call it boring or chill maybe be apt, but not for the combat.
Do the same for WoW from level 1 before the squish and see if the combat is anything special.
The only difference is that FFXIV replaces a lot of the endless Kill 10 Piggies quests in WoW with worldbuilding and character introductions quests.
People really are out there comparing FF level 10 combat to WoW gameplay at max level raiding thinking they are making a point.
But it wasn’t building the world so much as it was dumping a pile of lore bricks on my head. It goes on entirely too long. Throws far too many concepts and characters at you. And all with ridiculous names and spellings to make it all that little bit more impenetrable. Yes, wow combat also starts out basic. But it starts straight away.
It’s a RPG my dude, if RPGs are just not your cup of tea, that’s fine. A RPG having a story doesn’t mean it’s a bad game lol wtf.
I swear WoW has ruined people’s idea of what the RPG part of MMORPG is supposed to mean lol.
Thats because its an entirely new game trying to put its story and lore in the game and not paywalled novels.
WoW had 3 RTS games before, FF didnt. WoW is the odd weirdo in the RPG scene, not FFXIV.
This, basically.
Tbf, FFXIV does use other FFs in their raids, story, environments, and characters. They did have FF1 - FF15. Just as WoW draws inspiration from older WC titles, FF does the same.
You’ve got me until that point. Then, you lose all my respect.
