For anyone maybe feeling a bit discouraged about ratings and not being able to climb, this is for you.
If you’re struggling to climb the lower tier brackets 1400-1600, I want you to understand that I faced two back to back teams after taking a 10 min break in between to walk my dog, who had 4/6 players wearing Arena Master titles and running in on Glad mounts from seasons prior. Both matches we’re queueing in the 1500 mmr bracket just trying to climb to 1600 for challenger. If that doesn’t speak volumes about the competition right now, idk what will.
If you can’t climb right now, it’s because it damn sure isn’t getting any bit easier. You’re more than likely facing people who know what they’re doing, who probably have played together before, and are more than likely using voice comms of some sort. So don’t feel down or discouraged if you’re “hardstuck”, especially if you’re using LFG to find teams, and can’t climb.
I know im not great. But I leveled this Holy Paladin to try and compete and finally found some decent partners who I can attempt to climb with. So to you folks out there feeling hurt, keep your head up and keep working, keep searching for partners and working on the synergy.
I want to also add from my comment below this information that may be useful for anyone who doesn’t scroll down to see it.
Six variables that I believe ultimately define a great team.
Class / Spec decision ( without a doubt, there is no argument that some classes have an advantage over others in every season) but this isn’t that type of post to cry about imbalances…
Team players, consistent partners, or a network of friends to play arenas with who you can learn and adapt with, to ultimately build strong synergy. This includes using voice comms for precise decision making.
Gear, this is huge in of itself. Without proper gear and stats, you won’t climb very far when facing others of similar skill and caliber, who may be wearing higher level gear/ better stats.
Renown, this is another thing people may overlook. Having the proper soulbind active and conduits can play a big part, just like gear does ultimately.
Talent selection in game, as you see who you’re facing against picking the right talents will ultimately help out a lot (knowing your class and mastering it).
Lastly, CD cycling and countering your opponents CD’s with your own. I feel like this is pretty huge part of winning as well, and what will ultimately make or break the best players.
I believe these 6 things will ultimately make a great team, and if you can master all 6 you will more than likely get very far.
those are people’s alts. the 1500 bracket is about the same as it’s always been imo, if not easier, since there seems to be an influx of newer players this season due to the vendors.
So, I agree that it is more than likely their alts.
But with the current knowledge base for everyone out there, from streamers constantly playing and talking with their followers, to online resources that help players get better overall and learn, the competition is definitely not making it any “easier” for anyone as far as competition goes to climb these lower tiers.
The competition is a good thing though.
Problem is people like myself get discouraged when they think 1500 is some “rat league” bracket, when in fact it’s actually still quite the challenge to win in.
There is something going on tho, like I’ve never heard of people being in the 1300 bracket. If u were 1300 in BFA s1 you would probably have a 5 minute Q time cuz I don’t know if anyone was even that low. Might be something funky with mmr at that area.
its just the influx of new players. a lot of people came back for shadowlands its been a smash hit. plus, since pvp gear is now the best gear in the game, its incentivizes those that aren’t as experienced. that’s all it really is tbh.
For someone who might be above 1500, of course they may not think 1500 is hard to pass. But then where are they getting stuck at, as far as ratings go?
Sure, the next person with the better rating can always look down apon the “plebs” in lower tiers, so on and so forth right?
It all boils down to this, the competition for players is not getting any “easier”. In fact I would say it’s getting more challenging, given all the resources and ability to learn and become better.
As someone who permanently plays in the rat leagues the ladder feels exactly like it did in BFA to be honest. i200-205 is more than enough to push up to 1800, can prob do it with less if you play a meta spec with easy setup like fire mage.
Really don’t get where all this complaining about it being hard to get to 1600+ is coming from.
Players at 1400 mmr have better gear than players at 2400+ mmr
I’m watching R1 streamers face players with 35k-38k HP at 3k mmr while most players I face have 40k+ HP at 1400 mmr. Just fought an ele shaman with 43k no stam buff or earth ele.
This isn’t a complaint post either, just stating my observations.
